Prime Minister says he is considering "talking to insurgents" in , saying that the government would never have had to worry about insurgency in the province if attention had been paid to its development.

He made the comments while addressing a gathering of local elders, students and business leaders in during a one-day visit to the city. The premier said that he had always thought that when the came to power, the government would pay attention to Balochistan because when the province progressed and there was peace, Balochistan's people would "understand that Pakistan is also theirs and say 'we should also fight for it because it thinks of our basic needs and problems'".

He said that if development work had been carried out in the province, "we would never have had to worry about insurgents."

"It may be that they had grievances in the old times and may have been used by other countries ... may have used them to spread chaos but the situation [now] is not the same," he added.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be visiting Pakistan in July, Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said in a statement on Monday.
Responding to media queries, the spokesperson said that the Foreign Office had seen some reports regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Pakistan.
"Pakistan and Russia are close partners and friends. The two sides are committed to building a strong multi-dimensional relationship that not only serves their respective national interests but also contributes to regional as well as global peace and security," the spokesperson said.
Chaudhri said the exchange of high-level visits is an important part of the growing Pakistan-Russia relations.
"While invitations for visits at the summit level have been extended by both sides, no such visit has been scheduled yet," the spokesperson noted.

More than 1,000 Afghan security personnel fled across the border into Tajikistan on Sunday following Taliban advances in northern Afghanistan, the Tajik border guard service said.
The crossings underscore a rapidly deteriorating situation in the country as foreign troops near a complete withdrawal after 20 years of war in Afghanistan.

Flames erupt in the Gulf of Mexico after gas pipeline ruptures.

A gas leak from an underwater pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico led to a raging fire on the ocean's surface Friday, Reuters reported. The fire, which burned west of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula, was extinguished hours later, state oil company Pemex told the publication.

Bright orange flames jumping out of water resembling molten lava was dubbed an "eye of fire" on social media due to the blaze's circular shape, as it raged a short distance from a Pemex oil platform.

The fire took more than five hours to fully put out, according to Pemex.

Donald Rumsfeld, the architect of the U.S. invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq and an advocate of measures to streamline and modernize the American military, has died.
Mr. Rumsfeld, who was 88 years old, was the only person to serve two different times as defense secretary, becoming the country’s youngest leader of the Pentagon in 1975 and one of the oldest when he returned to the job in 2001.

His death in Taos, N.M., was announced Wednesday by his family. The cause of death was multiple myeloma, said Keith Urbahn, Mr. Rumsfeld’s spokesman.

PM Imran Khan strongly criticised policies of past governments that led to Pakistan joining the United States war on terror.

The premier termed it the "darkest period of our history" when Pakistan did not know which was a friendly country and which was not. "Have you heard of a friendly country carrying out attacks and drone strikes in your country?" he asked.

"A terrorist is sitting in London since 30 years. Will they give us permission to do a drone attack on him in England?" he questioned in an apparent reference to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain.

"If they will not give permission then why did we? Are we subhuman or half human or do our lives not have enough value?" he thundered.

Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) concluded fiscal year 2021 on wednesday, posting a 37 per cent return as compared to a paltry 1.5% in FY20.

The index closed at 47,356 by gaining a mammoth 12,934 points during the fiscal year as against a minor gain of 520 points in FY20. However, on a monthly basis, the index posted a return of 0.5% in June'21.

The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) has gained Rs 10.51 or 6.67% of its value against the US Dollar (USD) to close the last trading day of the financial year 2020-21 at 157.74 when compared to its closing value of FY20, posting its best annual fiscal performance since 2010.

In FY20, the local unit lost 4.76% of its value against the greenback.

Today, the pair USD-PKR settled 20 paisa higher against the greenback in the interbank market against yesterday's closing of PKR 157.74 per USD. The rupee traded within a very narrow range of 45 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 157.65 and an intraday Low offer of 157.25.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 157.50/158.40 per USD.

However, the local currency witnessed a depreciation of 2% against the American dollar during the month of June, recording its worst monthly decline in FY21. Currency experts say that at the end of the financial year, the demand for foreign currency is generally higher because corporate entities have to repay the return on foreign investment and clear dues that strengthen the US currency against the domestic unit.

When the full midsummer heat hits Jacobabad, the city retreats inside as if sheltering from attack. The streets are deserted and residents hunker down as best they can to weather temperatures that can top 52C (126F).
Few have any air conditioning, and blackouts mean often there is no mains electricity. The hospital fills with heatstroke cases from those whose livelihoods mean they must venture out. “When it gets that hot, you can't even stay on your feet,” explains one resident, Zamir Alam. “It's a very, very difficult time when it goes beyond 50C. People do not come out of their houses and the streets are deserted,” Abdul Baqi, a shopkeeper, adds.
This city of some 200,000 in Pakistan's Sindh province has long been renowned for its fierce heat, but recent research has conferred an unwelcome scientific distinction. Its mixture of heat and humidity has made it one of only two places on earth to have now officially passed, albeit briefly, a threshold hotter than the human body can withstand.

Federal Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain clarified that Prime Minister Imran Khan made a "slip of the tongue " when he called slain al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden a martyr.
Chaudhry, speaking to anchor Saleem Safi on the Geo News show Jirga, said Pakistan considers Osama Bin Laden a militant and the al-Qaeda, a terrorist outfit.
“Pakistan has voted in the UN on the War on Terror [against militants], we are a voter on a [UN] list that declared Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda terrorists," he said.
"Pakistan has sacrificed the most in the war against terrorism,” Chaudhry added.

National Assembly Leader of Opposition   Sharif on Tuesday appeared before an investigation team of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in connection with its probe into a Rs25 billion money laundering case.

On June 15, The FIA's Anti-Corruption Circle issued a notice to the PML-N president, asking him to appear in person before its investigators along with relevant documents. On Tuesday, Shehbaz appeared before a five-member team, led by FIA Punjab Zone-1 Director Dr Rizwan, at the agency’s Lahore office.
The team interrogated the leader for around one hour at the end of which Shehbaz returned to his residence without answering the questions of the reporters.

The agency has also summoned Shehbaz’s son, Hamza Shehbaz, who will appear before the on Thursday. A day earlier, an additional district and sessions judge had granted pre-arrest bail to both the PML-N leaders in the money laundering scam.

Pakistan has signed an agreement with Pfizer-BioNTech for supplying 13 million doses of COVID-19 mRNA vaccine, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan said.

While the exact timeline is not available, it is expected that the first shipment of the would arrive in July while the remaining would be provided by the end of 2021.
Pakistan received 100,000 doses of the mRNA last month, under the facility, which is being administered to people who are immunocompromised and not suitable for other vaccines.
Nearly 13 million doses of vaccines have been administered in the country so far, with about 3.5 million people fully vaccinated, according to the data issued by the National Command Operation Center (NCOC).

Pakistan has primarily used Chinese vaccines - , and - in its inoculation drive and earlier this month began allowing those under 40 to receive of which it has a limited supply meant for people traveling to countries that require it.

2 killed, 16 wounded as explosion takes place in Lahore's Johar Town.

Two people died, while at least 16 people were left wounded after an occurred in a house in 's area.

Per the report, rescue, police, and bomb disposal teams have reached the site of the incident, while the injured have been shifted to the city's Jinnah Hospital.

Witnesses say that the glass windows of nearby houses and buildings have been shattered. One of the buildings has been severely damaged and some vehicles parked at the site of the have also been affected.
Hospital officials say 16 people have sustained injuries and have been shifted to Lahore's Jinnah Hospital via private cars and auto-rickshaws.

The nature of the blast has not been ascertained yet. An eyewitness told that an unidentified individual parked a motorcycle near the house which later exploded.

Lucky Motor Corporation Ltd (LMCL) has recalled approximately 14,000 Kia Sportage vehicles to rectify a technical fault which resulted in fire in two Sportage in the last one and a half years.

Market sources said that Motor Corporation has advised the LMCL about recalling the affected vehicles.

They said two Kia caught fire in two separate incidents — one in Karachi and another in one of the cities of Punjab — in the last one and a half years which made the company take preventive steps in curbing any future incident.

Fauji Meat Limited, the largest meat plant in Pakistan, has been granted approval by the Government of Malaysia for exports, said Abdul Razak Dawood.
Taking to his Twitter handle, the Adviser to PM for Commerce and Investment said, “This shows that international acceptability & demand of Pakistani meat is gradually increasing.”
In this regard, he appreciated the efforts made by MOC’s Trade & Investment Counsellor Kuala Lumpur and urged him to provide maximum facilitation to the country’s meat exporters to obtain similar approvals.
