The 31st Annual Writer's Digest Awards Committee says this about "Just Keep Living: Conversations with Granny "

"We feel like we're in the room for the power of dialogue alone. There's something about a senior citizen voicing her thoughts about people that can make us look past any cringe factor, like 'do they call y'all punks, too?' I found myself smiling throughout, and anyone who could use some time with a sweet Granny like this one will enjoy this."

Here are 5 things that you should avoid doing when you're feeling anxious:

Avoidance: Avoiding the situation or activity that is causing your anxiety might provide temporary relief, but it can reinforce the belief that you cannot handle the situation, which can ultimately worsen your anxiety.

Don't Suppress Your Emotions: Suppressing or ignoring your emotions will not make them go away. It may only cause them to resurface later on in a more intense manner. Acknowledge and accept your emotions, and try to identify the underlying cause.

Avoid Caffeine or Alcohol: Caffeine and alcohol can worsen anxiety symptoms. Caffeine can cause jitters and nervousness, while alcohol can initially provide a temporary sense of relaxation but ultimately make anxiety worse.

Don't Isolate Yourself: When feeling anxious, it may be tempting to withdraw from social situations, but this can lead to feelings of loneliness and depression. Try to maintain social connections and communicate your feelings with someone you trust.

Avoid Ruminating: Ruminating or overthinking can cause a cycle of negative thoughts that can worsen anxiety. Try to redirect your thoughts towards more positive or productive activities like exercise, hobbies, or deep breathing exercises.

Meet 2x Award-Winning Author Lisa M. Bennett! She wrote a book titled " Just Keep Living: Conversations with Granny". During a recent interview, Lisa was quoted as saying, “When my mother passed away, it was a shock to our family. I have always lived in a multigenerational household and our bloodline is strong. When she died out of the succession, I desperately needed to find a way to cope with it, and became even closer to my grandmother. She was very wise, yet had an amazing sense of humor and spoke without a filter. I hope this small collection of short anecdotes and conversations with Granny will inspire you to laugh out loud.”
