AI: The biggest revolution or the greatest disaster since the nuclear bomb?

It seems like AI will impact the world for the good or the bad, possibly both. Still this might be the wrong question to ask.

A more fruitful one might be: How do we steward AI for human flourishing?

At that least that's something we imagine Ron Ivey could have asked after reading his brilliant reflection on this exact topic.

The Labor movement has made huge improvements to our relationship with work.

At the same time, why are we still fighting for the same things they did in 1890?
Can we see some of the same improvement they did in their times?

Check out this week's piece by Anders Kjøllesdal Hansen.

These days we expect work to give us something, but forget that meaningfulness comes from our motivation. As long as the work is primarily about how much money I can make, how much influence I can gain, or how much recognition I can achieve, frustration, contempt or hatred will inevitably bubble

What happens when the ego and identity of a people becomes synonymous with the success and power of their country?

Sveinung Nygaard explores this topic in this instance of Zebr Magazine.

If you want to better understand the conflict in Ukraine this is a must-read!

It has become increasingly clear that there are significant differences between Russia and Ukraine. One of these differences comes from the people’s view of themselves in relation to society. In the case of Russia, this relationship seems to be that of a slave. What are the implications of this me...

Today's topic is not for the weak of heart... ❤️

Still, the devastating effect it has on our lives, it is something we need more conversations about.

In the quiet corners of statistics lies a profound and pressing reality that demands our attention. The su***de rates in Europe are concerning, with 0.9% of all reported deaths in 2020 coming from intentional self-harm.

Behind these numbers are individual lives, stories, and families forever changed.

How do we respond?

🤔 Did you know that entrepreneurship and innovation is just as relevant in politics as in the business sphere?

In this short piece Josef Lentsch writes about a crucial part of the entrepreneurial process that is missing in the political sphere:

👉🏻 How to move from startup to scaleup

Take 2 short minutes to broaden your perspective on entrepreneurship today!

In entrepreneurship, a scaleup is a startup that is in the process of expanding. Scaleups have solved some of the initial startup problems, such as market research, product development and identifying a repeatable, scalable business model. What is the equivalent in politics?

Is there anything that hinders us from just removing freedom of expression?

It could seem like all sorts of revolutionary forces today have one thing in common: the desire to remove freedom of speech. Whether that be religious vs. secular voices or voices on different sides of the political spectrum, they all want to silence their opposition.

Kåre Melhus argues that if freedom of speech is something humans just came up with then it will eventually disappear. If not, it needs to be justified.

By what exactly? Read more in this instance of Zebr Magazine 👇🏻

Freedom of expression is under attack. Authoritarian politicians clamp down on opposing parties and muzzle the press.  Religious leaders silence dissenting voices.  Even in the so-called free world, people, both on the left and the right, are calling for opposing voices to be denie

Despite our age of abundance, we are still
facing global and national conflicts and challenges that
seem to become more and more severe.

The solutions are as many as the conflicts themselves,
but still there may be mindset that may help us
discover how to deal with these problems.

Anders Kjøllesdal Hansen writes about the ancient
practice of Lent and how it may help us discover what
we really want - and go for it. Without it we may just

We can no longer get everything we want and still we are unable to choose what is most important. The problem is we must choose, and then take the consequences of that choice. Perhaps ancient wisdom can help us with just that.

It seems pretty brutal when the person seen as love himself, Jesus says "to those who have shall be given, and from those who have not shall be taken away".

Tomáš Sedláček argues that this is not a normative statement, rather it describes the fabric of reality itself - the winner takes it all, as ABBA would say it.

Read more about how this impacts our world and how one can navigate life to – in fact – take it all.

It sounds wrong when Jesus says that those who have much shall be given more and he who has little shall lose even the little he has. At the same time, this paradoxical statement appears a surprising number of times in our society and personal lives from sports to economics.

Did you know that in Spain a kid can walk into a regular bar or restaurant and buy a pack of ci******es for just 5 Euros?

According to Matt Chan, the narrative has shifted completely to regulating e-ci******es while dismissing the use of regular ci******es.

Read why he thinks governments, health organizations and media outlets should focus on preventing the use of both products - not just one or the other - in this weeks article 👇🏻

Unregulated without the need to prove one’s age to a shop assistant, cigarette vending machines are a threat to public health within Spain whilst simultaneously highlighting the neglectful attitude of international policy makers towards cigarette regulation.

Connnection and politics; two words that usually don't go together.

But maybe they should...?

Lukas Hollnagel takes us into the world of international politics, showing a path forward where values seem to clash with the pragmatic demands of ruling and leading.

As the world is moving from multilateralism to bilateral realpolitik, the importance of human dignity seem to diminish. As a young generation, bound to inherit the politics of today, we need to find new ways to engage rather than to disconnect from current global politics and affairs.

The conflict between Hamas and Israel has captured the world's attention for over 2 months now.

A two-state solution is clearly the best, but that might be impossible to achieve according to Kåre Melhus.

In a time where moderate parties are losing their political ground, a political drama about the fading of the Norwegian Labour Party in the 70's and 80's may show surprisingly many parallels to the issues in today's political landscape.

Today, Hermund Haaland writes about what we can learn from this period to revitalize today's political landscape.

The award-winning Norwegian political drama ‘Power Play’ tells the compelling story of a young female politician’s journey to reinvent Norway’s governing party during the late 70s and early 80s. This series holds valuable lessons for today’s moderate parties struggling to innovate and stay...

Artificial intelligence poses both tremendous possibilities and uncertain challenges to our society and personal well-being.

How can we explore the opportunities while minimizing the risks?

Truls Liland argues that ethical discussions need to be part of every part of the process, not just the final stages of development.

What is the best approach moving forward regarding artificial intelligence (AI) development: Carrying on full speed ahead, pause and think, or is there a third way?
