How much storage does your computer have??

Most peoples computers these days have between 500Gb to 1Tb. That means on an average week, we produce enough content to fully fill 3 -4 typical computers to the brim with video files.

To ease that pain, we have 12Tb worth of camera media in rotation to make sure there is always space, and allow for ample post-production time.

Did you know, when we shoot in video, we almost never adjust the shutter speed manually? We leave it on a setting called a 180° shutter, which sets the shutter to double whatever the frame rate is.

This makes the movement in the shot feel more natural, but it can also mean that shooting outdoors can be far too bright. To counter this we use what’s called an ND filter, which blocks light from entering the lens/sensor and makes the shot darker. This allows us to get the shot we want even with lack of shutter adjustments.

Have you ever been to The Spokane Club? It has some amazing history and has been a centerpiece of the downtown area for over 100 years. We’ve had the pleasure of filming their several times now and love the unique looks we get in the various ballrooms and fitness spaces. This particular shot of the Georgian grand ballroom, I’m really happy with 🎥😁

We love a good teppanyaki show, and yesterdays shoot was crazy high energy. You can imagine how hard it is to keep up with a talented teppanyaki chef in full swing when your running manual focus 😅

Making good use of natural light can be a real challenge. It can be an even bigger challenge when you have no access to light modifiers when you’re on set. Knowing how to work with what you have is step 1 in producing a quality shot, and this commercial for was no exception.

Here we used the natural afternoon light to get the effect we were looking for, working with natural cover from an overcast day and wide tree shade. Positioning the subject correctly allowed us to get a really nice, soft roll-off across their face producing a very flattering result.

What’s the most difficult part of our job? Good question, here’s the answer:

Behind the scenes. It’s so difficult to get photos or video of ourselves working. If you’ve ever wondered why you don’t see much of us here that’s exactly why. We’re always busy pointing cameras at clients and totally forget to take a step back and make sure we have our content 😅

So, with that thought in mind, here’s a quick pic from .northwest of me, taking a quick pic of my camera. Oh, the inception! Thanks for helping us out with that 😁
