Travel Sketch Three friends and our Australian Shepherd sailing and exploring the world aboard our catamaran home. Currently sailing the Caribbean ⛵

Finally back on the water after a 600+ day warranty haul out! Our journey began with travels around Australia and Southeast Asia with friends who wanted to share in the adventure. We then took the plunge and quit our jobs to spend a year traveling with just the three of us. The trip began with us backpacking through Asia, exploring Thailand, the Philippines, China, and Japan. We saw wild animals,

bought our own Filipino fishing boat, slept on deserted islands, and spent time with locals. Next, we road tripped around Europe, stopping anywhere that piqued our interest. We drove Italy’s Amalfi Coast, did Yacht Week in Croatia, danced at Tomorrowland and Ultra Europe, and explored Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and England. Now we’ve started our next adventure - traveling the world aboard our Leopard 45 catamaran, sailing vessel Liger. Along for the ride is our resident boat dog Rose, an Australian Shepherd who loves living aboard a yacht.

It finally happened! We've left Trinidad and are exploring the Caribbean 🥳

The first stop, which was slightly unexpected, was Union Island in St Vincent and the Grenadines. We spent a few days there waiting for the winds to change, exploring the anchorage and getting used to boat life again: https://youtu.be/2CA4j2is9D4?si=N8QeZfSYem9kaJfM

The end of this week got very busy, very quickly, and I didn't quite have time to finish the YouTube episode I'd planned to bring out. I promise we will be back next Friday! In the meantime, why not jump over to the channel and check out an earlier episode you haven't watched yet 😎 ⛵

We call it a sail, Rose calls it a bed 😂 Unfortunately we had to interrupt her nap to keep getting Liger ready to sail but she sure is one content little boat dog!

In this video we break down what Leopard Catamarans has given us beyond the rectification of warranty and collateral damage on our Leopard 45. While these gestures were appreciated and are being recognized in the interest of fairness and transparency, is it enough?

Looking and feeling more and more like a sailboat with the genoa sail now up! The Code 0 setup is half done, sail bag is in and just need to get the main sail repaired before that's up too ⛵

After launching just before Christmas we dove straight into work, assessing what remained unresolved on our Leopard Catamaran after the extensive warranty related haul out, getting her clean and ready to sail. This includes tensioning the rig, assessing collateral damage and showing you the current state of things like the door, mainsail and table.

I also touch on our 2025 cruising plans, including where we hope to sail our Leopard 45 before the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane season comes around again.

We've been back on the water for almost 2 weeks now and while it's been busy, it's been so nice just to be able to jump in the water and go for a swim in between jobs!

At the moment I'm working on a new video to be released tomorrow which shows the state of the boat post launch, what still needs to be done, and talks a bit about our plans for the future ⛵️

This is it, the 10 day period before our scheduled launch and final chance to leave the hardstand this year, one of the most stressful, sleepless times I've had in my life. Where unexpected problems piled on and we struggled to get this boat to where it needed to be, putting in everything we had to launch before 2025. ⛵

We'll be spending the big day at a friend's island home, relaxing, liming and having a good time together⛵

⛵️We have been crazy busy since our new mast went up, working long days to get our Leopard 45 Catamaran across the line and ready to at least be floating by the end of the year. 🎅🎉

This episode I didn't have time for our usual style of vlog but still wanted to share the progress so instead here's 10 jobs that happened in the week or so between Leopard Catamaran's warranty repair team departing and what should be our last week living in the shipyard (there's an update on that too!). It includes mast work, finally getting some doors on the boat and redoing repairs we thought were done. 💪

PART 2 IS HERE!

After more than 2 years of issues with the mast on our Leopard 45 Catamaran the new ZSpars mast is stepped with the assistance their wonderful rigger, Jean Gui. 🇫🇷

It wasn't without its problems, with parts needing to be machined, new cables needing to be sourced and even a waterspout just off the coast of the Trinidadian shipyard we're hauled in. The day came down to the wire, with the mast being lifted and installed hours behind the schedule set for us, with our entire yacht crew working alongside Jean Gui to bring this chapter of our new yacht warranty experience to a close. ⛵️

Things are getting cracking around here with the bottom paint off and new paint going on soon. Rather than ablative we're going to be using a hard antifoul, hoping to avoid the need for annual antifouling haulouts!

We are still aiming to launch before the end of the year... which is fast approaching!! 😱⛵️

Over the next two episodes we're going to take you through a play by play of what it was like getting a whole new mast on our sailboat, from stripping down the old mast to stepping the new mast.

A HUGE thank you to Jean Gui, ZSpars and everyone who facilitated him coming - we couldn't have got through the week without him!

With the mast up there's still plenty of work to do on it and the boat if we want to be ready for a December launch. As you might expect we're getting stuck into it as a crew, motivated by thoughts of what is yet to come!

Part 1 of the mast installation will be out Friday ⛵️

🙌Things are happening people! As part of the warranty process a brand new mast is being installed this week with the help of the top rigger at ZSpars, who manufacturer masts for Leopard Catamarans among others.

Very excited to get to Friday's video which will share the processes of preparing and installing the mast, transforming SV Liger from motor yacht back into sailboat... I just need to finish filming it first! 😅⛵️

Finally had a chance to make some sorrel drink! A Christmas favourite here in Trinidad, it's made by seeping fresh or dried sorrel (rosella) with spices then adding a some sugar to offset the tart flavour.

Exactly which spices are used can vary depending on who makes it; my recipe is from Jocelyn at the Central Market and uses star anise, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and bay leaves!
