We will walk alongside her through her many years as a protective and elevated spectral force within the home, examining what her presence means for generations past and generations to come.

The Kentucky Dog-Eater tells the tale of an unknown beast that terrorized summer evenings throughout the 19th and early 20th century, brutalizing livestock and domesticated animals, leaving a trail of carnage in its wake. Complete with sightings, descriptions of the beast, and reported attempts to capture and kill the monster, this story illustrates the raw power and chaotic divinity of the untamed Bluegrass.

This story, coupled with a sampling of first hand source documents, will explore the history of the Ouija Board in Kentucky and examine the impact of talking board communications on the life of Frankfort's historical titan and steward of such tales, Russ Hatter. The story will detail the ways in which, when we attempt to peek through the veil to the world beyond, we may, instead, be looking at our own distorted reflection.

Lights Over Frankfort will capture and relate the tales of UFO witnesses in the Capital City. What did they see, what did they hear, what did they smell, and what did they feel? What does the symbol of the flying saucer mean and what can we learn about ourselves and our home when we look into the night sky and see something strange and impossible?

It’s time to unveil what we’ve been dug into all summer. A project we’ve been at since the early spring. Tales from Franklin County and the surrounding environs. A project we’ve put blood, sweat, and tears into.
This October, we’ll be releasing a book in partnership with the fine folks at the and . This 8x10 hardcover will spin tell 4 tales from the Capital City with supporting documents and photographs that you’ve come to expect from a DCM publication.

1. The Kentucky Dog-Eater - a previously unknown and unreported on Kentucky cryptid that terrorized summer evenings throughout the 19th and early 20th century.
2. Lights Over Frankfort - a treasure trove of UFO sightings and encounters from Franklin county complete with Air Force investigatory documents.
3. The Ouija Board Transcripts - a showcase of the monolithic Ouija Board in the life of a steward of Frankfort and Kentucky history.
4. The Gray Lady of Liberty Hall - a comprehensive look at the tutelary spirit housed within the Brown ancestral home as well as an examination of ancestral spirits themselves and what they mean to a home, a family, and to a community.

We have worked so damn hard on this thing and we can’t wait to share the fruits of our labor. We couldn’t have done it without help from the people of Frankfort, its champions, and the fine folks at Cap City Museum and Liberty Hall. Thanks for letting us tell your stories. We hope you’ll join us on the banks of the Kentucky River this October for a book launch on October 1st at the museum. More details to come. Until next time >>>

In the meantime, enjoy these photos from our event showing off Mother’s Work from last fall. Thanks to for capturing these images in the mansion at the beautiful . We are terrible at social media so blame us for taking over half a year to share.
We love y’all. Thanks for believing in what we do. Until next time >>>

Spring has sprung and Issue 8 is here!!
It’s been a long winter but we are back in the swing and so excited to be back.
This issue features a little capstone story for our work on spiritualism in the bluegrass recounting the tale of a swindling spiritualist.
We’ve also got a contribution from our Rowan county friend and conspirator spinning bite sized poetic yarns concerning the haunts of his home county.
To polish it all off, we have the first part of what will be serialized short stories, or at least fragments of tales from The Other River. This is a new vision of a place we’ve visited before and we hope you’ll enjoy a dreamy or nightmarish ramble along the banks.
We’ve got something big in the works for the coming months. Hope you’ll stick with us, new friends and old. Until Next Time >>>

Issue 7 has arrived!
Tomorrow night at the Filson we will be debuting the new work. This one is special. This one represents 9 months of change in our lives. 9 months of research. 9 months of meditation. 9 months of exploration. 9 months of prayer.

The new issue is all about the explosive Shaker Theological and Spiritual evolution known as ‘Mother’s Work’ as it occurred at Pleasant Hill Shaker Village.
Experiences that would shape and inform the burgeoning spiritualist movement in America that would last for decades.
The Shakers are so special. So warm, so lovely, so focused and driven to build the next world here in this one.
We hope you’ll share the culmination and celebration of this work with us.

An incredible research day at that included comrades from the Community History Fellows Program at the . Time spent in the archives, collections and out in some less trodden parts of the village examining the Shaker Era of Manifestations and the ways that spiritual fervor can change a landscape. A day when everything you think you know, moves around a little bit.

Our project and upcoming work on Spiritualism in Kentucky will take a significant detour into Shaker territory.

Thanks so much to Becky Soules for opening up the Shaker Village archives to us so freely and so graciously sharing her knowledge and wit.
Thanks to the mighty fine folks at the for opening up doors for us to walk through.

Hello friends,
Our aim in this endeavor remains true. To weave new mythology and legend from the strands of the old. An engram of the unknown and the uncanny sat upon a low ridge, in the mouth of a ragged cave, in the waving of rolling hillock, in the slapping of dark river water and in the blinking nostalgia of familiar constellations.
It has been a year now since we released our first issue. The road from that hazy place to this unknown but comparatively clearer one, has been, in our estimation, crooked and wandering. Just like we like it. An uncertain and turning path through seldom trod wilderness that we have only just begun to qualify and plot. Thanks to all of you who have walked with us. What a remarkable joy it has been to meet so many of you, through these past 4 seasons, that have identified something in DCM that is also in yourself. Maybe it was something secret. Maybe it was something you didn't know or had forgotten was there. Maybe you just love meat rain, haunted hillsides and spaceships full of weirdos from Venus that bring old ideas to new people. I guarantee to ye that we are just getting started.
Issue 4 now available in our shop; link in bio.
