Our first trip to the Arctic was a HUGE learning curve! So now, with our sites set on the North American Arctic, and only a few weeks until we ship to Canada. We are making some big upgrades to make the van safer in the extreme conditions we are likely to face and to make life on the road a bit more comfortable. This week also sees the culmination of something I've been working towards for a while!

So here she is, Big Red in all her glory! Gutted we won’t get to use her for a little while though. If you missed it we explained what’s going on in the live, but in the short term we are dusting the Sainsbury’s van off and preparing her for Arctic round 2, but this time we’re headed for the North American Arctic! Can’t for the adventures to come!… Did I mention we ship in a few weeks 😱🎉🍾💙

The last 5 months have tested us in just about every way possible! When we first went to look at this old fire truck, it's fair to say she was looking pretty neglected, and at that point she didn't even run! We knew it probably wasn't the most sensible purchase, but, we fell in love with her! So she got a new engine, we picked her up and set to work bringing her back to life. We have put our blood, sweat, tears and sanity into restoring and transforming this old girl and hope you love it as much as we do!

We take on the cab this week and it is so satisfying to see it all come together. We are absolutely over the moon with the old features we have been able to salvage, restore and find pride of place for whilst making it so much more comfortable and functional. We get the diesel heater installed too as well as some other jobs ticked off the list and one tool gets such a work out we think we might need to start a drinking game for it!

This vehicle stole our hearts for a number of reasons, but one was that it offers such a unique space to build a travelling home in. This build and its 'uniqueness' has definitely challenged us over the last few months but seeing some of the finishes come together is so rewarding!
