Pasqueflower. One of the most treasured sightings of spring. Large petals and delicate leaves, emerging from sand on stone. Viewing the city from their perch on the bluff above.

Two weeks ago, Dan and I explored Rush Creek State Natural Area. These incredibly small (only about two inches tall) cresses were the only thing blooming.

It was a good reminder that even though spring feels busy, that we should mimic nature and slowly come out of our winter slumber. To move slowly and notice such small treasures.

It's been a while. A long, long while.

A deep rest. A reset.

A rearranging of life. Re-examining my purpose for this platform, and breaking my self-imposed molds along the way.

I found over the last year that all of this felt like work, which—on top of already demanding work—was unnecessary. But in the midst of that revelation, I also noticed I wasn't capturing the beauty of life, whether in word or photo. And that is something I deeply miss.

So, I'm starting anew, hopefully without absurd confines because life is just too damn short to miss out on what I enjoy.

Starting out, here's an adorable photo of my sleepy pup, Carex. May we all rest as deeply as he does.
