Tyler Dos Santos-Tam serves as Chair of the Democratic Party of Hawai'i as well as Honorary Consul for the Government of Portugal. We sat down to discuss Tyler's experience in his various roles and how COVID-19 impacted the plans he had made regarding the organizations. Tyler shares how he adapted fundraising and membership outreach for his various groups.

We also discussed various other topics such as Tyler's work with the government of Portugal, campaigning, the differences in Democratic Party membership and the disconnect between local Legislators and the Party Platform, such as the legalization of ma*****na, and raising the minimum wage.

Mr. Braggs is the President of the NAACP Hawaii, and Member, National Board of Directors, a Navy veteran, and long time Civil Rights Activist stretching from a High Schooler elected to Wilmington, North Carolina's City Council as a Youth Member to his current roles in the Social Justice movement.

Our conversation covered so many great topics and points about the lack of community in modern society, the current Black Lives Matter movement, social media's creation of bubbles of sects of society, and dispelling the idea that the NAACP is strictly about supporting the African American community when in reality the NAACP is about supporting Civil Rights and the Constitution.

Former Hawaii State Attorney General and Lt. Governor, Doug Chin, was appointed to the Honolulu Police Commission and we sat down to discuss issues like the conversation about "defunding" police and why that term and talking point is all wrong.

It's about reallocating resources and letting police be police instead of piling responsibilities on the police that are better handled by mental health and social service professionals.

🇦🇫 With everything happening in Afghanistan it’s easy to look past the great work and amazing things that our military did there.

For episode #6 of The Real Talk Experiment i sat down with Retired Major General Joe Logan and one of the topics we discussed was his time in Afghanistan being placed in charge of setting up, organizing, training, and equipping the Afghan Police…bascially from scratch.

MG. (Ret.) Logan built a nation wide police force that better mirrored a “community policing” method where taking bribes and bulling citizens was looked down on, and actually serving & protecting was looked at as being honorable. This was a truly monumental task considering the cultural, traditional, regional, tribal and other differences that had to be considered at every step. The story is truly incredible.

This conversation was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw what was happening there. Be sure to give a listen when you have time.
