In this episode Ladie Kei shares:
How she healed her son’s chronic allergy-induced skin condition by focusing on gut health and the impact that reprogramming his mind had on his body's ability to heal itself.

Why the key to overcoming depression & anxiety starts with improving your digestion & how juicing can help speed up that process.

Why things like breast cancer, excess arm fat, and weight gain in your midsection are ways that your body is actually trying to protect you.

I took a poll in my stories and y’all said you are STRESSED TF OUT!!

Lemme introduce you to the ABC’s of stress management.

I told you guys a few days ago that stress isnt something you can completely get rid of.

In fact, some stress is actually “good for you” (and I say that with hesitation because some people with take that statement and run with it lol)

But a helpful way to help you gain control over the ✨CONSTANT✨stress that you’re under is to apply the ABC’s.

✨A is for Awareness:✨
This means you have to actually know what you’re stressed out about. Sometimes we become so stressed out that we stop paying attention to what’s actually going on. We just exist in our constant fight or flight mode (Which is not helping your blood sugar)

You have to identify what’s triggering you in order to practice changing the way you RESPOND to it (see my previous post about reacting vs. responding)

✨B is for BOUNDARIES✨

You 👏🏾 have 👏🏾 to 👏🏾 set 👏🏾 boundaries 👏🏾 PERIOD!

You have to start setting boundaries if you want to reduce stress and get your blood sugar under control.

Stop making yourself so available to everyone (including family) at the expense of your own piece of mind (more on this soon).

✨C is for Consistent Accountability✨

(This is where I gotta give you some tough love)

Managing stress is YOUR responsibility 🤷🏾‍♀️ You have to be proactive if you want to get to a place where you are not constantly on edge.

Consistent accountability means to ✨PRIORITIZE✨paying attention to yourself AND your needs on a regular basis.

What you need is important too. (Always remember that). And sometimes what you need is to cut people off, say no, stop volunteering, and FILL YOUR OWN CUP unapologetically 🙌🏾

Ps. Come join me in Dominating Diabetes Academy!

Stress management is the very first thing we dive into (& for good reason). Without proper stress management, you won’t be able to
🚩eat right
🚩feel motivated to move your body
🚩regulate your sleep
🚩or reverse your diabetes.

Let me be VERY clear….

✨You CANNOT lower your a1c without managing stress FIRST✨

It is 100% impossible!!

Here’s why:

🔸When the body is under chronic stress, this activates the fight or flight response.

🔸The fight or flight response activates the release of cortisol, the stress hormone.

🔸Cortisol activates the release of all the glucose your body has stored and dumps it into your bloodstream

🔸Chronically elevated blood sugar levels activates the release of excess insulin

🔸Insulin is a fat storage hormone. Excess insulin in the blood= extra storage of fat= weight gain

🔸Excess weight= inflammation

🔸Inflammation= hypertension, heart disease, stroke, heart attack, depression, brain fog, memory loss & more.

✨This is what you call the stress cascade!✨

If you do not properly manage your stress, no matter what you try to do, you will never be able to control your blood glucose levels let alone lower your a1c.

✨Remember, stress is controlled by the brain (HPA Axis). If the brain is in dysfunction, the body will be in dysfunction. Why? Because the brain is the control center of the body.

Follow me for helpful tips on what you can do to properly manage your stress levels (& ultimately lower your a1c).

✨ How to reduce your a1c✨

Almost immediately after receiving your diabetes diagnosis -after the initial shock of it all, you probably learned that you need to keep your numbers at or under certain points.

Your numbers are important. In fact, they are very important.

But just as important is realizing that lowering your a1c is about more than just your numbers. It’s about addressing the other lifestyle factors that make up your health overall such as getting quality sleep, managing stress, eating balanced meals, moving your body daily and keeping yourself hydrated.

When you give more attention to these things, the numbers will take care of themselves. Trust me.

21/08/2021

Some of the most common culprits that you will hear causes diabetes is excess weight gain, eating too much sugar and a high carb diet. Now don't get me wrong, these things most certainly can contribute but ultimately those things alone are not to blame.

Diabetes is a condition that is deeply rooted in stress, nutrition deficiencies such as lack of fiber and a sedentary lifestyle. Diabetes is a LIFESTYLE related illness.

#1 Stress:

When the body is under chronic stress, this activates the fight or flight response. This means the sympathetic nervous system becomes overactive. The fight or flight response activates the release of cortisol, the stress hormone. Elevated cortisol over the long term consistently produces glucose, leading to increased blood sugar levels. This causes a cascade of events to take place including excess insulin release, hormone imbalances, excess weight gain, inflammation, and ultimately diabetes.

#2 Lack of Fiber
Fiber is VERY important to the overall function of the body. Not only does it help to stop glucose from hitting the bloodstream too quickly -but it also cleans your colon. When dealing with insulin resistance, you tend to carry excess weight in the midsection due to the increase of fat storage from the hormone insulin. Carrying excess weight in the mid section is also a sign of waste backup aka P**P! Fiber helps you to eliminate this waste. Fiber is found in all fruits and vegetables so prioritize these in every meal.

#3 A sedentary lifestyle
A sedentary lifestyle is a lifestyle with a lot of sitting and lying down, with very little to no exercise. When we eat poorly on top of an inactive lifestyle, this drives dis-ease. Movement is NOT optional. It needs to be as non negotiable as brushing your teeth everyday. Movement helps to strengthen your heart, burn fat, increase insulin sensitivity, improve mental health, boost brain function and a whole lot more. All movement counts! So get moving!
