I think the bylaws of the Fire Department are still in effect as only the officers of the organization and the members can decide to abolish them, not the Police and Fire Commission.

Mauston Council meeting tonight at 6:30. We have word that friend of the Mauston Fire Department Huckleberry Ulbricht will be addressing the Council demanding investigation of Randy Reeg, and investigation and removal of 4 out of the 5 Police and Fire Commission members for neglect of their duties in handing over duties that are their responsibility exclusively under the law. Please come show your support for Mr Ulbricht. You are also encouraged to address the Council tonight. The fire department has faced destructive forces trying usurp control. This can not be allowed to stand. The PFC needs to reassert their control and boot Randy Reeg from their meetings. The City of Mauston, including Randy Reeg has no functional authority over the PFC, the fire fighters, or its operations. Help us get this madness brought to an end.

Our job is to publish the information we have and mention what we know or understand and let the reader go through the information and make their own determinations. This will be the first time in which The Juneau County Herald will be calling for an investigation of a public employee based on issues that not only The Juneau County Herald has dealt with, but others in the public who have reached out to us for help as well as the removal of 4 out of the 5 Police and Fire Commission members. I have recently been contacted by multiple people to look into further issues with The City of Mauston. We are printing a few articles in which will hopefully shed some light on what, in our opinion, is potential corruption and violation of laws. Our hope is an investigation will occur for which the proper authorities can sort out what is going on. We believe the city official is innocent until proven guilty in court and deserves the same due process as anyone else. Part of the Republic for which we live in includes the right to disseminate information so people can look at it and make up their own mind and criticize our government to the highest extent and demand for things to be made right. Our job as a newspaper is not to determine the guilt of Randy Reeg. Much has been going on with the Mauston Fire Department by way of the City Administrator and the Police and Fire Commission that the public is not aware of. I made a promise to do everything I can to help set things right for the amazing firefighters who risk their lives. I intend to honor that promise as best as I can. I made an attempt to reach out to the Police and Fire Commission members to point out facts based on the Handbook for Police and Fire Commissioners. To alert them to authority that rests on their shoulders and not the City Administrator. I was blocked on Facebook by one of the PFC Members. I will continue to do my best to let the public know what is happening. I encourage anyone who lives in Mauston to contact their Council Members and demand things be fixed and this madness brought to an swift end.

Some of you may be wondering, what is the disciplinary process within the fire department? Is it being done properly? Here is a link to a legal article from the Wisconsin Municipal League of Cities. There are some indications that the PFC may not be aware of what is their duty and what rests squarely on their shoulders when they accept appointment to the PFC.
