*FIRST EVER KALAROOS YOUTH MELA BY INDIAN ARMY*
Children and youth are the pictures of a nation’s future. They are our hope for tomorrow. Youth constitutes a significant size of Kashmir population. It is a spirited and ingenious section of our society. Their energy require proper channelling to realise the true spirit of *Naya Kashmir* .
*Indian Army* has undertaken various initiative to engage with the youth of the J&K so as to bring them to mainstream to contribute to nation building. In the series of such an initiative *Indian Army* organised first ever *Kalaroos Youth Mela* at *Thaiyan, Kalaroos, Kupwara* on *14 December 2022* . The event was sponsored by Kafila Foundation, Stay Fit Gym Kalaroos, and Cultural Academy Kupwara.
*In this youth mela event like Mr Kalaroos Contest 2022, Cultural Programme contest and Career counselling* by academic experts were conducted. Each event was conducted with an aim to spread positive message amongst youth. The aim of *Mr Kalaroos Contest* was to spread the message of good health and make youth socially aware and be a responsible organ of the society.
*Cultural Performance contest* was aimed at bringing youth closure to our rich Kashmiri and village culture. In today’s modern time wherein, we are moving away from our traditional roots, so this event was one little step to bring our youth closure to our rich culture. It was also aimed at providing our youth a platform to showcase their hidden talent to ensure holistic development of a young mind.
This Youth Mela was a *two day event* which started on 13 December and culminated on 14 December 2022. *On 13 December* approximately 100 youth participated in screening process for Mr Kalaroos Contest 2022. Total of 20 finalists were shortlisted on 13 December for Mr Kalaroos Contest. Total of 15 schools from the area came for audition with various cultural programme.

Senior Congress leader Haji Abdul Wahab wani.Visited various areas of Machil including Wani mohallah machil pushwari Akhoon mohallah and other areas for holding condolence meetings in those families who lost their loved ones in past few days. Haji Ab wahab wani expressed his grief and sorrow with the families and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and also a panchayat level congress workers meeting was held

*DISTRIBUTION OF STATIONARIES AT GOVERNMENT PRIMARY SCHOOLS OF GURDAJI AND CHOTTA KHET, NUNWANI*
Kafila foundation which had been carrying out various *supportive measures and programs* for a long time in the valley organised the distribution of stationery and writing material to children of Government Primary School *Gurdaji and Chotta Khet* of Nunwani Panchayat, Kalaroos on 01 Dec 2022.
Notebooks and writing materials were distributed to 22 students of Gurdaji and 23 students of Chotta Khet Government Primary Schools respectively in presence of the parents of the students to support and inculcate importance of education amongst the backward class of the society and particularly amongst *Gujjars and Bhakarwals* of the area.
The event was appreciated by the locals and specially parents and elders of the area. The overall aim of the event was to *assist, motivate and promote* the importance of education and helping in *upliftment of the backward* children of Nunwani village in Kalaroos.
*GLASSDAJI CRICKET TOURNAMENT ORGANISED FROM 24 NOV TO 30 NOV 2022*
Cricket tournament was organised by Indian Army along with the support of local authorities over a duration of 1 week starting from 24 Nov to 30 Nov. A total of *08 teams* have participated in the tournament .
The tournament was conducted on league cm Knockout basis wherein teams were grouped into two pools. Best two teams out of each pool have moved up to the semifinals. The finals were played between *Tanda Superstars* from Manigah ‘C’ village and *Konshi Superstars* from Manigah ‘B’ village. It was a close encounter between both the teams but *Konshi Superstars’ emerged as winners* of the tournament and lifted trophy for the yr 2022.
Indian Army falicitated the winner and runners-up teams during the prize distribution ceremony. Overall the tournament was a huge success as the youth in area showed enthusiasm and participation in large number.
Locals appreciated the *efforts by Indian Army and local administration* and was motivated and put forward the view to conduct these kind of events in future engaging youth in sports activities and *identification of talented individuals*.

*INDIAN ARMY DONATES LIFE SAVING MEDICAL EQUIPMENTS TO REMOTE HEALTH CENTRES AT MUHRI AND NAGSARI VILLAGE, KUPWARA.*
In an endeavour to reduce hardships of economically backward and remote tribal community, life saving medical equipments where donated to the health centres located at Muhri and Nagsari villages of Kupwara on 24 Nov 2022 by Indian Army where access to health care has been a challenge especially during the winters.
Various medical equipments like Cardiac monitor, Oxygen concentrator and cylinders, Nebuliser, BP apparatus etc where distributed among the two health centres located at Muhri and Nagsari villages under the presence of Block Medical Officer, Medical Officers, Sarpanches, Ward members and public at Muhri.
The Block Medical Officer briefed about the advantages of having these equipment at these remote locations and how it can act as a lifeline of the peoples dependent on these health centres for there basic treatments. The gratitude was extended by the Sarpanches and public also towards Indian Army for being considerate about their wellbeing.
The reposonse from the locals was overwhelming and such initiatives from Indian Army will go a long way towards promoting peace, progress, genuine wellbeing and build a trust and connection among the masses.
A protest was staged by the Municipal conical Kulgam sweapers. The protestors alleged that early in the morning Sweapers, one sweaper were allegedly beaten up by local shopkeepers due to which they were sent for medical treatment. He was shifted to the district hospital.The protestors said that action should be taken against the miscreants.The officer of the municipal concial said that the matter is being investigated and if such an incident occurs, action will be taken against the miscreants.It is also news from local sorce that some employees of the Municipal concial are harassing the shopkeepers for no reason. Due to which the shopkeepers allegedly beat them up.
