* THURSDAY UPDATE 2/08/2024 *
95th World Championship Sled Dog Derby RACE IS cancelled for 2024. There is no snow on most of the course to build a trail. The rest of this week will be above freezing during the day and no snow forecasted until next Tuesday making it too late and most likely still not enough snow to have a base and then build the trail. With the warm weather this year the ground has thawed so there are many waterways going through the course which need to be frozen for snow to stick in those areas. We are saddened to cancel again but Mother Nature is not working with us. We thank you for the continued community support and we hope to have a larger race next year.
We will still be drawing winners of our 2024 Raffle Prizes on February 18, 2024 @ 4pm on Facebook LIVE. There is still time to purchase a ticket for a chance to win big cash prizes! You can purchase a raffle ticket on our website lrsdc.org....
Due to the race cancellation, our club has voted to donate some of this years' club fundraising back into the community. We will be making donations to the Greater Lakes Region Children's Auction and the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation.
We greatly appreciate all of the local businesses and community members who helped our club raise the funds for our race! Our goal is to have a large enough purse to welcome mushers from the mid-west and even Alaska!
