It's a day to celebrate our furry little friend, the groundhog. It's a day to celebrate our furry friend, the groundhog. He symbolizes hope and happiness and brings us joy every year on this special day.

What better way to do that than by learning some fun facts about them? For instance, did you know that the groundhog is also known as the woodchuck? Or that they are part of the rodent family?

Groundhogs are native to North America and can be found in parts of Canada and the United States. They usually live in wooded areas and burrow underground. These burrows can be up to six feet deep and have multiple chambers for sleeping, eating and storing food.

Groundhogs are mostly herbivores and eat things like grass, nuts and berries. In the wintertime, they hibernate in their burrows. When they wake up in the spring, they mate and then start looking for a new place to build their home.
