More new brass quintet arrangements from Jamescliff Music!
House of the Rising Sun (Traditional, arr. Taylor Helms). This arrangement presents the tune in a slow blues style before transitioning to a lively tango. Scored for flugelhorn, trumpet, horn, trombone, and tuba, each member of the quintet is featured.
That's a Plenty (Lew Pollack, arr. William G. Rose). Originally written by Lew Pollack in 1914 and arranged by William G. Rose, That’s a Plenty is a “burner” – a fast piece in New Orleans style, appropriate for the opening or closing of a typical brass quintet concert. This arrangement has written jazz solos in the Trumpet 1 and Trombone parts, and chord changes are included for performers to perform improvised solos in those sections if they desire. Also included is an optional Piccolo Trumpet part (to sub for Trumpet 1). The arrangement is dedicated to Dr. Michael Ewald.
March to the Scaffold (Hector Berlioz, arr. Taylor Helms). This arrangement of “March to the Scaffold” from Berlioz’s programmatic Symphonie fantastique works brilliantly as a dramatic and educational concert piece.
An Itsy Bitsy Tarantella (Taylor Helms). This lively tarantella is based on the popular nursery rhyme tune, The Itsy Bitsy Spider, but is entertaining for audiences of children and adults alike!
Sugar Plum (Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, arr. Taylor Helms). Classical Christmas tune turned swing, this arrangement is sure to be an audience favorite! Changes are provided for improvised trumpet and trombone solos.
