One day, needing to spend time in an environment that felt different. We headed into a large area of greenery that was close bye. It was lots of trees, an open greenfield, grasses of different shades and blades. Houses and apartments could be sighted half a mile away to one side and the bush extending further on the other side. I took off my shirt, for I couldn’t deny my body the tender slaps of the breeze as it alternated in speed. I let it anchor me to the moment, as I quickly reminisced as I often do, of triumphs and travails along my life’s journey up to that present moment and the fullness of life in it. along that line I decided to capture the moment, as I contained the surge of the different emotions that followed. I felt relief. Now, that very moment was all that mattered.

‘Bad Pet’ OUT TOMORROW on @audiomackafrica first! This song is a letter to a friend, to my younger self, to tell them to not feel alone. To let go of regret, pick up the lessons and move on to brighter days. Most of us can relate to fumbling something beautiful, maybe a loving relationship, or giving our best for minimal reciprocation. Making mistakes that cause feelings we don’t like to arise. It’s okay to take wrong turns, what makes it so, is learning from them and moving on. Regret is a very bad pet. What is gone is gone. Beating ourselves over it is a waste of precious energy. Let’s learn to embrace what’s to come with optimism and we’ll be just fine. I remember when I wrote this song years ago, I remember the day clearly. I had been away from making music for a while due to other concerns. On that day I was reminiscent of the past and some choices I’d have made better. I picked up the laptop before me and just did whatever came from my heart. It’s a slow song unlike the usual, I didn’t want to force it to sound different. I just let it flow and it came out that way. I had left the song untouched for years, till I felt a strong push a couple weeks ago to brush it up and put it out. So here it is… ‘Bad Pet’ I like it 🤎🏹
