Truly humbled by this 9th Oct memory. I have many to thank for where I am today…However my wife and two boys top that list. Their sacrifice seems too great at times. We’ve overcome financial hardships, stared down divorce, battle for our sanity through this seemingly never ending pandemic. All of it so their husband and father can live out his childhood dream flying big planes around to world! To say I’m truly blessed doesn’t go far enough!

A life long passion was realized today! My former student, who became a brother to me over the past 8yrs earned his private pilot certificate! He’s had one heck of a journey getting here. One of these days I’ll have him share it with you…for now he’s gonna enjoy this moment with his wife and baby girl! 🙏 If I have one regret it was not being there to give him a “Big John” sized hug as he crawled out of that plane today! Love ya brother. Looking forward to having you take me up soon!

I’ve always been a dreamer. Two of my biggest dreams were to play college basketball and fly a Boeing 747 around the world. I’m one of the lucky ones who was able to fulfill both those dreams. Played on this court my freshman year of college (you’d find me all the way to the right side of the picture picking pine needles out my pants) but I made the team and played a couple mins now and again! 🤙

My advice to anyone who has big dreams…shoot high, you never know when they might come true! If a poor kid from the back country of Idaho can fulfill his I bet you can too! 🙏
