In this episode of The Concept of Us, we discuss the importance of prayer and how we viewed prayer and our relationship with God growing up. Over the years, we've learned that our relationship with God should not be fear-based, but rather one of love. We learned that prayer isn't something we should do out of fear, but instead, out of love. Prayer is an open and direct line to God, whenever and wherever you need it. We truly hope you benefit from this episode.

Please remember: You are loved. You are not alone. 🧡

Our last value is Pursuit of Knowledge 🧡

Knowledge is infinite. We hope by sharing our stories and inviting others to share theirs that we help each other learn. When we are able to listen and learn from each other, we can all thrive and make the world a better place. That’s what The Concept of Us community is all about. We aim to always strive to learn, improve, and share our knowledge with the community.

“Whoever takes a path in search of knowledge, Allah will cause him to walk in one of the paths to Paradise. Indeed the angels will lower their wings in great pleasure with the one who seeks knowledge.” (Sahih Abu Dāwūd)

Charity 🧡

The Concept of Us will always prioritize giving back to the community. We believe that every act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a positive impact in the world. Our hope is to inspire our community to incorporate charity and generosity into their daily lives. We are committed to making a difference by donating a percentage of our profits to charitable causes each month. Together, let's make the world a kinder and more compassionate place.

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Every Act of Kindness is Charity.” (Sahih Bukhari)

We are live! Here’s another one of our values. You can learn more at theconceptofus.com 🧡

3. Integrity

Doing the right thing is never easy, but we believe there is a reason for that. Having integrity means standing up for what’s right even if you’re standing alone. The Concept of Us vows to always act with integrity and try to do what’s right. We are all human and mistakes happen, but we remain dedicated to constantly striving towards integrity in all that we do.

"O believers! Stand firm for justice as witnesses for Allah even if it is against yourselves, your parents, or close relatives. Be they rich or poor, Allah is best to ensure their interests. So do not let your desires cause you to deviate [from justice]. If you distort the testimony or refuse to give it, then [know that] Allah is certainly All-Aware of what you do." (The Holy Quran 4:135)

With our website launch right around the corner on 2/1/23 God willing, we wanted to share The Concept of Us values with you.🧡

We are driven by faith and our values derive from Islam. (Please refer to our previous post for the first value)

2. Empathy

The Concept of Us was founded on the principle of empathy. We are all going through something, we are all on a different journey, but we are a community. This means that we are there for each other, we listen to each other, and we can share each other’s feelings. Empathy is about understanding and it's about selflessness. If we want to be understood in this world, we, ourselves, need to be more understanding.

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “None of you believes (completely) until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.” (Sahih Bukhari)

With our website launch right around the corner on 2/1/23 God willing, we wanted to share The Concept of Us values with you. There are five and we’ll share one a day. These are in no particular order. 🧡

We are driven by faith and our values derive from Islam.

1. Community

Community is about connection and belonging. We aim to create a space where individuals can feel supported and understood. Our goal is to promote mutual learning and support, recognizing that we are all in this journey together. We were put on this earth to learn from each other and to be there for each other.

"O humanity! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may [get to] know one another. Surely the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you. Allah is truly All-Knowing, All-Aware." (The Holy Quran 49:13)

To our newest followers, welcome! Thank you so much for being here.

The Concept of Us is more than just a podcast, we’re a community. That’s our goal anyway. We really want to drive the point home that you are loved and you are not alone. The podcast is our way of exploring what makes us, us (all of us!). We believe by exploring and having these conversations we can help each other feel less alone. We are still exploring ways to make this more of a community.

In addition to the podcast, we also stream on (every Monday/Wednesday/Saturday). Twitch has an awesome chat function that we use to connect with everyone live. We’re also working on setting a Discord up so we can all connect at any time. If you have any suggestions, please let us know.

Before every stream we like to have a question of the day that we’ll discuss live! Today’s question is: What brightens your day?

Always remember: You are loved. You are not alone.

We appreciate everyone’s feedback on this poll! This not only helped us feel less alone, but we hope it helped you too. We discussed this more in detail on our stream (you can still view it on Twitch.tv/theconceptofus). Here’s a little bit more of what we have to say:

Marwa: I often feel pressure from others to be the person they once knew me as. And it’s sometimes hard to try to explain how I can’t be that person anymore. There are many things that can change us as people - whether it’s our environment, our mental health, etc. I would say that depression and anxiety has altered me in a way I never saw coming. Because of these challenges, I’m not who I once was.

Ahmed: I used to be a people-pleaser to the point where I wouldn’t voice my opinions, but now I speak my mind. I think people still expect me to be who I was in that sense and are taken off guard when I’m not.

What do you think? Even if you feel like you don’t deal with this, we’d love to hear your thoughts either way! 🧡
