PHOTOS from the 4th Annual Black Pride & Liberation Fest in Lansing, Michigan at Willow Tree Family Center 🏳️‍🌈 It was a beautiful sunny day where the community enjoyed FREE books & food in a family friendly environment. Folks enjoyed a delicious soul food meal catered by Cookies House of Soul. There was lots of great conversations, connections and talks about things that matter deeply to the Black LGBTQIA+ community. 🏳️‍🌈

We’re thankful to all who attended and celebrated this fun and truly important gathering. Black Q***r joy and radical liberation is an essential part of forward motion and change in our community.

Rain couldn’t stop us from enjoying the 3rd Annual Black Pride & Liberation Fest in Lansing, MI at Willow Tree Family Center

There was lots of laughter, good food, and community connection!!!

Huge thanks to all the sponsors: Willow Tree Family Center, University Lutheran Church, Black Lives Matter Lansing, Salus Center and One Love Global

The Black Pride & Liberation Fest was able to give away Q***r-affirming children’s books to local families like Julian is A Mermaid by Jessica Love and I Am Perfectly Designed by Kamaro Brown, along with other titles that spotlighted the importance of Black History, and self-love & acceptance.

We had a very special Drag Queen Storytime reading by Auroara Manifesto who shared their original book, Be Who You Are! and a performance by Cocoa Caliente from the House of Manifestation (H.O.M.E.)

DJ Fudgie provided us with amazing tunes, and folx were able to dance and experience Black joy and good vibes!!!

There was face painting, and some truly wonderful vendors. Plus, a blessing from Pastor Tony Patrick to kick-off the event.

And we gave away some DVDs of Moonlight directed by Barry Jenkins, and Miss Juneteenth directed by Channing Godfrey-Peoples.

It was an all-around good time!!! See ya’ll next year!!!!! 😁✊🏽🏳️‍🌈
