Any doubt that this victim was black? One more back life gone. Try to imagine what this child's short life was like. Imagine the girl's body lying there, day after day, week after week, month after month. Undiscovered. Did anybody notice her absence? Did her life matter?

No, it seems. Not as much as the lives of black habitual criminals resisting arrest.

Black lives matter? This article does not even say "stay tuned for more information." When the info is available there will not be space to run a follow up, as two or three more black people shooting other black people will be filling the available space.

Which black lives matter? The toddler seriously wounded in one of these shootings? Or maybe the life of the shooter when the cops try to arrest him and he ends up dead when he violently resists arrest.

(I know that the article does not identify the race of the shooters or the victims. If it turns out that the people involved are non-blacks I will make a correction. And when pigs fly ...)

However, this is likely the end of the coverage in the press. This kind of thing is so common that we see little followup, even when the police can provide more specifics.

It is interesting and unsettling how many stories of this sort are not followed up. Victim not identified, suspects (also not identified and perhaps unknown to the policed) being sought. The one thing that is all but certain, the victim was black, the men who shot him are black. So little interest, one day story. Not important enough to warrant a news item if and when the police catch the killers or identify the dead man.
