What the Comme des Garçons Show Means for the Met — and Fashion

In case you haven't heard.....the theme for the 2017 Met Gala Costume Institute exhibition and gala will be Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons.

The exhibit will portray 120 Comme des Garçons womenswear designs, from Kawakubo's first runway collection in 1981 until today.

Rei Kawakubo will be only the second living designer ever recognized with a solo show at the Costume Institute, a potentially game-changing decision.
