Happy International Day of the African Child, from Bishara and the entire team at Kushoto.org .

Why Celebrate?

It is our collective duty and power to change systems that hold back our young people, especially girls, across Sub-Saharan Africa.

How do we do this?

By recognizing and celebrating the achievements of all of us children of Africa, not just today, but everyday.

Discovering Confidence and Empowerment through Karate at Shotokan United Kenya.

By Kathaambi.

When I first walked into Shotokan United Kenya, I was filled with nervous excitement. I had always been interested in martial arts, but I had never taken the plunge to join a dojo until now. From my very first class, I knew that karate was going to be a transformative experience for me.

As a woman living in Nairobi, I have experienced my fair share of harassment and violence. I have often felt helpless and vulnerable, wondering what I would do if I found myself in a dangerous situation. Karate offered me a way to feel empowered and strong, both physically and emotionally.

In the beginning, I struggled with the basic techniques. I was out of shape and uncoordinated, and I often felt discouraged. But with the encouragement of my trainers and fellow students, I kept pushing myself. And slowly but surely, I began to feel more confident in my abilities.

One of the things I appreciate most about Shotokan United Kenya is the sense of community that it offers. The dojo is a place where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to learn and grow. My Sensei Joshua is a wonderful trainer and mentor, and he has helped me to develop not only my physical skills but also my inner discipline and focus.

Another trainer who has been a tremendous influence on me is Sensei Musoga. He has a gift for motivating his students and pushing them to reach their full potential. And he has a unique way of combining physical training with spiritual guidance, making the dojo feel like a sanctuary for the mind, body, and soul.

Through karate, I have discovered a sense of humility and a willingness to learn from others. I have also learned the value of hard work and perseverance, as I have worked my way up from one belt to the next. And perhaps most importantly, I have learned the power of walking away from conflict, rather than engaging in it.

As I continue on my karate journey, I know that there will be many more challenges and opportunities for growth. But I also know that I am part of a supportive and loving community that will be there for me every step of the way. And that is a gift that I will always cherish.

So, if you are looking for a way to challenge yourself, build your confidence, and connect with others, I highly recommend giving karate a try. You never know where it might take you.

Ndìbwendete burì. 😅😜
I would name drop, but no. Let's reserve that for the storytelling time at kushoto.org with my team.

With that, this crowdfunding campaign comes to an end! 🎉🎉🎉
