I’m not sure why, or where it came from, but back in the day, when we were touring 200 + days a year, a developed this thing where I was certain I was going to die somewhere on the road. It wasn’t something I was precious or worried about - but merely matter of a fact.
I remember sitting on my buddy Ian’s couch, strumming the chords that became this song. Mumbling the lyrics to myself. It was a hazy, hungover kind of Wednesday morning. I got about halfway through writing this song and got stuck with the last verse. My pal Richard Inman was sitting across the room, eating his breakfast when I said “your turn”. I handed him the guitar and lyrics and left the room.
Don’t know if I’ve ever written more honest song. I’m glad we got the chance to sit down and sing this one together, once upon a time.
