Student Loan: Comr Tochukwu C Onah Commend President Tinubu, Appeal for inclusion of Nigerians Students in Diaspora.

The former President of Nigerian Students in Australia has commended President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for signing student loans into law. According to him, "It shows that he is a father who has love for his children."

Comr Onah appeals to Mr. President to extend this loan to Nigerians in Diaspora while noting the fact that many Nigerians students who japa are suffering to meet up with their school fees abroad.

Comrade Tochukwu Onah who is also the president of Diaspora Coalition for Good Governance in Nigeria (DCGGN) recall how Indians and the Chinese government offer their students loan to travel for studies abroad, which they pay back to their country after graduation.

Comr. Onah appealed to the Nigeria government under the able leadership of President Tinubu to learn from Indians and the Chinese government who sponsored their citizens to travel abroad to gain knowledge and return back to develop their country. According to him, it had become necessary now for the Nigeria government to create opportunities for brilliant Nigerians to maximize their potentials by crossbreeding academically with a well tailored policy that will ensure they return after school. This will not only reduce the brain drain in the country, it will boost the nations economy. Comr Onah added.

Enugu gov’t engaging investors, developers for electricity generation to drive economy – Gov Mbah

Enugu State governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has disclosed that his administration is already engaging investors and developers in the power sector to set up electricity generation plants that will drive the state to achieve its target $30 billion economy from the $4.4 billion it met the economy in May 2023.

The governor, who spoke on Thursday in Enugu as Chief Host at a townhall organized by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) themed, "Customer Complaints Resolution Meeting”, said the new Enugu Electricity Law empowered the state to develop its own commercially viable electricity market which is safe, reliable and sustainable.

Following the passage of the law, the governor explained that the state did not waste time in setting up the Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission with commissioners saddled with the responsibility of assuming regulatory authority over electricity services in the state.

“We have started engaging developers and investors interested in setting up power generation plants to supply our citizens under ‘willing-buyer, willing-seller’ commercial agreement,” the governor, who spoke through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyai, added.

He lamented the challenges that electricity consumers have been facing in the state which include epileptic power supply, and in extreme cases, total national grid collapse, thereby hindering production and investments, saying his administration would partner with the NERC and the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to address the challenges.

Governor Mbah, while expressing optimism that the poor national grid supply to Enugu State would soon be reversed with improved supply from other energy sources, said the administration was currently understudying underserved and unserved communities through the newly established Enugu State Electrification Agency.

Also speaking on the backstage of the townhall, the Chairman of the state electricity regulatory commission, Mr. Chijioke Okonkwo, commended NERC for bringing customers together to address some of their challenges and needs in the power sector, saying the state government’s initiative to set up its own electricity market will help to address citizens and investors’ power needs.

Okonkwo called on investors in the power industry to see Enugu State as a viable state with the right infrastructure for power generation, declaring that the state is open to welcome all investment opportunities across board.

Enugu government has embarked on inspection of smart schools and healthcare projects across the state, insisting on quality, integrity, and timely delivery.

Governor of Enugu State, Dr.Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has charged contractors and the site engineers handling construction of the 260 smart schools and 260 Type-2 Primary Health facilities in the 260 wards of the state on the delivery of world-class projects that would stand the test of time.

Mbah enjoined them to deploy quality materials and build according to specifications, warning that any sharp practices would attract stiff sanctions and rejection by the government.

He equally underscored the need for contractors to deliver their projects on schedule as stipulated in their terms of contract.

The governor spoke through the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Chidiebere Onyia, during an inspection tour of ongoing projects in Ezeagu LGA on Wednesday.

He said the purpose of the inspection by the projects monitoring team, which also compromises the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr Gerald Otiji; Commissioner for Education, Prof Nwabueze Mbah; Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Chris Robert Ozongwu; Chairman of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), Dr. Gabriel Ajah; Special Adviser to the Governor on Projects Development and Implementation, Uche Nwatu, among others, was to ensure the quality and integrity of the projects, from start to finish.

"We met with the contractors and their site engineers in all the sites we’ve visited. This is to ensure that there is no variation in the work specification, and that the quality of the materials they are using, starting from the foundation to completion, could guarantee the integrity and structural tests of these projects.

"What His Excellency is setting out to achieve here is to make sure that we did not run the three risks that we know that are eminent in every construction, considering that a time will come in Enugu State when we will have almost five hundred live projects - smart schools, primary healthcare facilities - in all the 260 wards, in addition to the roads constructions that are going on across the board. So, we are building a very strong monitoring team that will address the quality aspect of it.

"We are also taking into consideration the cost risk that comes when the time risk begins to happen, because, once we miss the timeline, the next is that we begin to discuss variation. So, this team here is to ensure that all risks are evaluated and compliance is strictly adhered to.

"We are also working on engaging with the local stakeholders to ensure the security of the process here. So, that will help us address issues around theft of materials we brought to the site. But more importantly is that at the end of each project there will be sustainability and that these stakeholders will take ownership of these schools and other projects in their communities.

"So, it is not just about monitoring, but also about building on all the key facets that will make sure that these projects achieve the objectives to have smart children and smart teachers coming out of our local governments and a smart workforce for the state," Prof Onyia stated.

That's why we have accommodation for them and we are also going to ensure that Enugu generally has a smart workforce. That's why we are here”.

He allayed the fears over the culture of abandoned projects by various strata of the government, saying that the allocation of 33 per cent of the entire 2024 budget to education has guaranteed the start, completions, and handover of the smart school projects on schedule.

On his part, Chairman of ENSUBEB, Dr. Ajah, said they were happy with the quality of work so far, adding that contractors were complying with specifications and corrections were immediately effected wherever there were gaps.

Admonishing communities to take ownership of the projects, he urged them to see the facilities as their own by ensuring the security of the projects.

"Security is everybody's business. The people are happy. The government has never come to the people at ward level like this before now. So, I am calling on our people to protect these projects from vandals by taking charge and ownership of them", he concluded.

Hardship in Nigeria: Former President of Nigeria Students in Australia Calls For Calm and Support for President Tinubu.

There is no doubt that the economy is biting hard in the country as anger and frustration among Nigerians, especially the youth, continue to linger. Speaking to newsmen in far away Sydney, Australia Comrade Tochukwu Onah who is the immediate past President of Nigeria Students in Australia called on President Bola Tinubu to understand the urgency of the moment and put necessary action in place to ameliorate the suffering of Nigerians. As a Nigerian, born and bred in the country, I understand the situation in the country very well and in my capacity I have tried to help those I can but individual help is just like a drop of water in the ocean and It can't do much. It is the responsibility of the government to take some relevant steps and action to ensure a conducive atmosphere for small businesses to thrive and to as well provide social amenities at a subside rate, to enable the individuals to afford it so as to caution the effect of the high inflation in the country.

Comrade Tochukwu Onah, who is also the president of Diaspora Coalition for Good Governance in Nigeria (DCGGN), used the opportunity to call on Nigerians to be calm and constructive in their criticisms. Comrade Onah maintains that all over the world, it has not been easy anywhere, so as citizens of this great country, our greatest concern should be what we can do together to support our leaders and improve the country for good. In his words ``I have known President Tinubu as an intelligent leader and he listens to people, especially the youths, so let's take advantage of his character to provide him with useful information or action based on how to improve our country. For your information, this is the only country we have, and the responsibilities fell on us directly to develop our country and we must join forces together to achieve this if we must leave a better legacy and country for our children.``

In his passionate appeal to Nigerians, Comrade Onah begged Nigerians to give Tinubu some time to unleash his genius. He noted that revamping the economy of a backward nation like ours is not an easy task. You must step on some toes and there must be a fight back and it can only take leaders like Jagaban to weather the storm and set the ship sailing on the right path which is what President Tinubu is doing at the moment. As a result, I call on Nigerians, especially the youth, to embrace hand-work or farming, instead of waiting for government jobs or political appointments which only come as a quick fix and will never be a solution to our ailing economy.

Finally, Comrade Onah commend Nigerians for their resilience and endurance to decades of bad leadership and appealed for calm amidst hunger and inflation following some economic policies of the past administration which I believe President Tinubu will surely save the stage and bring prosperity to the country.

Comrade Tochukwu Onah is the former president of Nigeria students in Australia and president of Diaspora Coalition for Good Governance in Nigeria.

A Call for Urgent Economic Intervention (Hunger in the land)

Dear President Ahmed Bola Tinubu

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I write to you today filled with a deep sense of concern and emotion, echoing the sentiments of millions of Nigerians who are currently grappling with the severe economic hardship and hunger that has befallen our nation since the removal of oil subsidy.

The removal of oil subsidy, while seemingly a necessary step, has unleashed a wave of inflation and skyrocketing prices, leaving the most vulnerable among us in a state of despair. Families are being torn apart, dreams are being shattered, and the future seems bleak.

Mr. President, I implore you to listen to the cries of your people, to truly understand the magnitude of their suffering. The economy is in dire straits, and urgent measures need to be taken to alleviate the burden on Nigerians. It is crucial that we find a way to strike a balance between economic stability and the welfare of our citizens.

I understand the complexities and challenges you face as the leader of our great nation. However, I urge you to consider the long-term consequences of the current situation. It is not just about numbers on a balance sheet; it is about the lives and well-being of millions of Nigerians who are bearing the brunt of this crisis. We need sustainable solutions that will restore hope and prosperity to our nation.

In times like these, leadership is not measured solely by policy decisions, but also by empathy and compassion. I urge you to reach out to the suffering masses, to lend an ear to their grievances, and to demonstrate that their voices matter. Together, we can find a way to navigate these troubled waters and rebuild a stronger, more resilient Nigeria.

May you find the wisdom and strength to make the right decisions for the betterment of our beloved country. May you be guided by justice, fairness, and a genuine concern for the welfare of every Nigerian. May the hardship and hunger that afflict our people soon become distant memories, replaced by a future of abundance and prosperity.

Yours sincerely,

Comr Collins Ude

Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah Quality Leadership: The Aninri of our Dream

For us to witness a rapid developmental stride in Aninri, we must make sure we seek for good leadership.

We must say no to using the Aninri Leadership Chairmanship as a compensational gift to friends and well wishes.

We must shun mediocrity and focus on capacity, content, value and will power to change the face of Aninri.

We must also involve all Aninri sons and daughters in all spheres of life, home and aboard to join the Aninri Developmental Movement.

Our new Aninri LGA Chairman must be a young and vibrant man or woman who is up to speed with the current smart economy.

We need a smart chairman who understand and appreciate a detailed developmental strategy & economic plan for the people of Aninri Local Government Area.(LGA)

Our next chairman must focus on infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, tourism, and entrepreneurship.

Here is a comprehensive approach that could be implemented by the next Chairman of Aninri LGA.

1. Infrastructure development:
- Improve road networks within the LGA to enhance transportation and connectivity.
- Upgrade electricity and water supply systems to ensure reliable access.
- Develop and maintain public facilities like markets, parks, and community centers.

2. Education:
- Enhance the quality of education by improving school infrastructure, providing modern teaching materials, and training teachers.
- Establish scholarship programs and vocational training centers to empower the youth with skills and knowledge.
- Encourage partnerships between local businesses and educational institutions to promote practical learning and job placements.

3. Healthcare:
- Strengthen healthcare facilities by equipping them with necessary medical equipment and supplies.
- Upgrade primary healthcare centers to provide accessible and affordable healthcare services to the rural population.
- Promote health education and awareness campaigns to prevent diseases and promote healthy lifestyles.

4. Agriculture:
- Support farmers with modern farming techniques, machinery, and access to credit.
- Establish agricultural cooperatives to enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing among farmers.
- Encourage value addition and processing of agricultural products to increase income and create employment opportunities.

5. Tourism:
- Identify and promote the unique cultural and natural attractions within Aninri LGA.
- Develop tourism infrastructure, such as hotels, resorts, and recreational facilities.
- Create awareness campaigns to attract tourists and generate income for local businesses.

6. Entrepreneurship:
- Provide entrepreneurship training and mentorship programs to empower individuals to start and grow their businesses.
- Establish a microfinance scheme to provide affordable loans to budding entrepreneurs.
- Promote the establishment of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by providing necessary support and incentives.

7. Collaboration and partnerships:
- Collaborate with the state government, private organizations, and NGOs to leverage resources and expertise for effective implementation.
- Foster public-private partnerships to attract investment and promote sustainable development.

It is important to regularly monitor and evaluate the progress of these initiatives, making adjustments necessary.

Additionally, involving the local community in the decision-making process and ensuring transparency and accountability will be crucial for the success of this developmental strategy & economic empowerment plan for Aninri LGA.

Thank you

Oh God, I kneel before you with a heart filled with immense gratitude. Today, I come to thank you for the incredible miracle and the gift of life that you have bestowed upon me. You saved me from a fatal motor accident, I am forever grateful.

My New year request to the Executive Governor of Enugu State Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah

Firstly, I want to commend you for your dedication to humanity and your commitment to the welfare of the people of Enugu State. Your leadership has instilled hope and inspired many of us to believe in a better future.

However, there is a matter that has been troubling many of us for the past 13 months. The issue of Ngige Aninri's unpaid salary is not only distressing but also raises concerns about the silence of stakeholders, suggesting a possible conspiracy. This situation is not in line with the promise you made, that it will not be business as usual.

Therefore, I humbly request that you kindly intervene in this matter and instruct the Local Government Area Chairman of Aninri to ensure that the Administrator of Aninri West, Ngige Aninri, receives the 13 months' salary owed to him. It is essential that we address this issue promptly, as it has caused great pain and hardship for Ngige Aninri and his family.

I also implore you to consider changing the negative system of autocratic and wicked behavior towards our fellow citizens. Leadership should be a tool for promoting humanity and not a means to inflict suffering on others. Let us work together to create an environment where everyone is treated with respect and dignity.

May God bless all those who believe in humanity and show love for those who have been humiliated. Let us unite as people of good conscience and say no to intimidation. Together, we can support good leadership and strive for a better Enugu State.

Governor Mbah, I have faith in your integrity and compassion. I believe that you are a good man who can bring about positive change. I urge you to use this opportunity to change the negative narrative and restore a better behavior that upholds respect for humanity and honors the dignity of your office.

May God bless you, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and all the men of good conscience who strive for a better Enugu State.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Comr Collins Ude
