October is Physical Therapist Month. If there’s one thing I’d like to say to my physical therapist it would be:• Thank you for helping me sit up in bed when I couldn’t. • Thank you for getting me home. • Thank you for improving my heart function. • Thank you for your continuous encouragement and kind words! Congrats again Cody + Emily! We love you guys so much! “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” Ephesians 5:25
This week, we are joined by Marie Brock. She’s married to Ken, and they are each other’s second marriage. Marie has two older sons from her previous marriage, and she and Ken have their youngest together, where they live in North Carolina. For 18 years, she struggled with chronic health complaints. She went through the conventional system; she was put on prescription after prescription, only to get worse. This led Marie to become a certified holistic health coach for Christian moms. She helps moms who want to heal and feel good after years of disordered eating patterns and miscarriage. Your work brings hope, healing, and comfort to mothers and babies in their most critical moments. You embody Christ’s love and compassion in action.May God continue to bless and strengthen you as you care for those in need!“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Colossians 3:23.#BirthTraumaStories #PerinatalTrauma #PerinatalNursesWeek #PNW24 #FaithinAction
9.28.24Today we celebrated our 5 year Surviversary. I say our because I’m not the only person who survived that day is 2019. This journey has been a collective effort. From meals to rides. From prayers to play dates. From lawn care to housecleaning. We had (as my friend Cynthia would say) a Banner of Blessings! The journey is not yet done. Please continue to pray for our family as I continue OT & PT. “by the God of your father who will help you, by the Almighty who will bless you with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that crouches beneath, blessings of the breasts and of the womb.”Genesis 49:25 #BirthTraumaStories #PerinatalTrauma #endAFE #StrokeSurvivor #BlessingsFromGod
I wiped from having a big party today so I don’t have eloquent words right now, but I’m incredibly grateful for the staff who saved Coco and made sure Claire was taken care of! #BirthTramaStories #PerinatalTrauma #NICUStaffAppreciationDay
In the season 4 premiere, I discuss how to grapple with the fact that your life may have turned out differently than you expected after your perinatal trauma. Maybe you have a child with special needs. Maybe you have a disability yourself. Maybe you experienced or still experience PPMDs. Maybe your family is grieving during your perinatal period. Maybe you ever expected to be a mom. How do you grapple with the fact that your body may fail you? Did God make a mistake? Tune in to hear more!
This summer was busy in the best way possible and I wanted to soak up every sun-soaked moment! ☀️This meant taking a light break from social media but I will be taking an official break from social media to continue to prepare for the drop of Season 4! Y’all it’s going to be a great season!!! I can’t wait!!!...#BirthTraumaStories #PerinatalTrauma #PodcastingMommas #SeasonDrop
Happy Father’s Day. The specialness and gift that is Father’s Day is extra special to me. It’s truly been a gift to watch Eli step fully in his role as provider and dad. However, Father’s Day isn’t always celebratory. I’d always like to hold space for the families who have complex feelings around today! Is there a dad you’d like to acknowledge this Father’s Day? Last week I attended Freedom Ride, Inc fundraiser. My fellow stroke survivor/friend Jason and I shared a bit about our stories, but more importantly the horse I ride, Jasper was highlighted. When I first started riding Jasper I was pretty indifferent to him. He is a pretty “plain Jane” thoroughbred (probably one of my least favorite breeds) but as I heard more about his story and how consistent he is, he’s now my favorite. He’s won over my heart! He’s overcome such severe abuse and his heart heals so many. Is there a special animal who’s helped you heal from your perinatal trauma? @briansheilig recently posted on one of my reels that sometimes our plans don’t always line up with God’s plans. This was absolutely true for both of my births but especially my second. One of the hardest parts of my perinatal trauma is the impact it’s had one my loved ones; especially the girls. It makes me sad that I wasn’t there for Chloe when her life was in danger. At the same time Eli did and incredible job. I’m so lucky to have him! How did your perinatal trauma not go to plan?
