Dyl with a good example of a Gippsland Yellowfin.
A small specimen from when it was warm and stopped raining.
More pike food! The Lahna or Abramis brama is one of a couple of species that get referred to as bream in Finland. They fight like crap, are ridiculously slimy and you can't target them like our Australian counterparts. But as soon as the waters cool, these fish move to the edges in numbers and big pike follow... apparently... They are still kind of cool looking.
Weird finnish fish number one! The Sorva or Rudd - scientific name scardinius crythorpthalmus. I can see why pike get huge and the lures they eat are massive. This would at some point be a snack for a monster pike!
Tosi pieni Hauki = Very small pike! The five inch Irukandji Sicarios make the slow days fun!
Rigged very traditionally for pike fishing.
Two pretty rough looking lids. One has better teeth than the other. You can make that call!
Another great fish found hunting perch in two meters of water!
A fun day, chasing the only pike that are interesting to catch. These fish as constantly pi**ed off and have the teeth to match! The megabass Vatalion 115 was the clear favourite.

Back when the weather was nice and the fuel price was right! The new trusty favourite Spike 44 EXDR in Suji Berry is as sexy as it is needed.
Crabs or Muss? Whats taking the podium?

New podcast out soon! Best way to catch and then dehydrate small leather jackets!
But seriously... we will be recording new episodes over the next few weeks. We are back!!!!!
We certainly love big bream here at OTC, but we will not discriminate! When the tide pushes up the foam lines, the cockle beds are clean and the smaller fish are plentiful, we will always break out the 3lb straight through, a bunch of chubbies and crank up an absolute storm!
📸
Just like playing basketball. Dunking bream! Except Dyl's court prowess leaves much to be desired 🏀❌️🐟✔️
In between the long gaps in estuary fishing... a humble winter carp session always puts a smile on the face. Especially when you have a bit of nice weather and chunky busses like this clean specimen. We don't discriminate on fish... we want to catch them all!
Amongst donating lures to the swimming scissors, Mitch still managed to pluck a few gnarly Blacks off the edges.

Yellowfins + crankbaits ÷ good weather x incoming tides = good times.
Deconstructed sashimi 🍣
The most catch anything bait. The slide swimmer 115. From nice Perch like this, to small water Cod, Bass, Flathead and even Trout or Mondo Bream.
Find them at
And one from the skipper himself This bank was a bastard. But the captain and his swarmies chipped away at them.

Just a classic coota bream doing a classic coota bream things.
The only other perch found for the trip on one of secret techniques.
Dyl definitely needed the brawler to pull this fish from its tight labyrinth.
Although we do most of our fishing in Kayaks or boats. Nothing beats a good old landbased session from time to time, or, even just to stretch the legs in between a long day of pedalling.
Mitch even managed to find the fish of the trip. A solid 46cm Yellowfin.
Dyl managed to find a very respectable and frustrating 49cm Perch on our recent trip on board guiding services! (They seem to regularly be found to 49cm but much harder to crack the 50cm mark). On a bent clearly, however he has been quoted saying " they are not a great perch lure". Do you agree???

It's a tough world to be a mussel! muss is the lure that not many thought about, but everyone needed. Most eats are along these lines!
Mitch kicked it old school with the original 80mm Bloodworm Wriggler on the OG squidgy ball head after getting his brand new 106 bent snipped by the swimming scissors.
The fishing lifted his mood, but so did stuffing his snout into that delicious salted aniseed smelling packet of wrigglers that brought him back to his youth. Does anyone get that? It's definitely crack right!?!?!? 🤣
Salty, chubby eating Yellowfin is why we head east... this healthy fish is no less than a prime example.
What a trip. The next couple of weeks you will see what we got up to over east. A huge thank you for the absolute clinic and toweling he gave us over the weekend. We had to work for them, but we got the bites we wanted before we have to look deep for the next few months.

Tailor are the worst fish if you aren't targetting them. Change our minds! 🤬
