I’m gonna be honest with y’all.. I REALLY struggle with this. But I’ve been working on focusing more on the present and just trying to see what’s in front of me ⁣
⁣

One thing I’m doing to help me is I’m writing down 3 things I’m grateful for from the previous day every morning⁣
⁣
& I don’t mean something basic like “I’m grateful for my friends & family” I actually go into detail about it & make sure if I were to look back in a week or two, that I would know exactly what I was writing about ⁣
⁣
So far, it’s really been helping with keeping me focused on the good things that happen in each day & how I should be thankful for each day that I’m given

Jesus cares about your mental health⁣

I was looking up verses that would help someone struggling with their mental health earlier today & I found two that I really liked so I wanted to share ⁣
⁣
The first one is Matthew 11:28 where it says “Come to me, all who labor & are heavy laden & I will give you rest” ⁣
⁣
When I read that the first thing I thought of was how sometimes we let everything build on top of our shoulders & it’s gets really really heavy. I’ve personally described it as a drowning type of feeling ⁣
⁣
The verse is saying if you go to him while you feel like everything is on top of your shoulders or while you feel like you’re drowning.. He will help you. He will help comfort your fears. & he will help ease your mind⁣
⁣
The second one is Psalm 34:18 where it says “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit”⁣

When I read that I thought of how you feel when you hit rock bottom. You feel like there’s absolutely no hope. Like nothing & nobody can save you because you’re so deep in this hole. But he’s with you. He’s with you in the hole just like he’ll be with you when you get out of the hole. He wants you to trust & confide in him. He wants you to open your heart to him ⁣

I am in NO WAY saying to completely stop what helps you with your mental health currently. (I fully support taking medicine if it helps & going to therapy) But what I am saying is that Jesus is with you even when you’re struggling. You could be at rock bottom and he will still be there.. Waiting for you to lean on him & trust in him.

I have MAJOR anxiety about going to church.. But I went to a service last Sunday for the first time in a WHILE⁣
⁣
⁣
I didn’t really know what to expect because it had been so long since I actually went & I also wasn’t expecting to relate to anything during the service either⁣
⁣
Not even 10 minutes into the service, the guest speaker was talking about this woman who had a hysterectomy (& this month is the 1 year anniversary of mine) so I was kinda emotional but I just thought it was a coincidence⁣
⁣
Well, then the 2nd guest speaker was talking and he mentioned self harm & suicidal thoughts. & While I don’t struggle with those anymore, I did heavily in my past.. So at that point, I was like “ok.. Maybe this isn’t a coincidence” ⁣
⁣
I went into the service being really anxious, But leaving the service.. I felt seen and heard. ⁣
⁣
I’m not gonna say all my anxiety is gone because that’s not true.. but I do feel a LOT better & a LOT less anxious about going to a church service now⁣
⁣
- So if you’re like me & get major anxiety about going to church.. Go with a friend, sit wherever you’re more comfortable, (I sat in the back) & try to be open to what they are preaching⁣

I overdosed twice in high school.. But he saved me⁣

I was in a bad marriage.. But he saved me⁣
⁣
I struggled with infertility.. But I trust that there was a reason we couldn’t have more children⁣
⁣
I had to have a hysterectomy & there was a complication with the procedure. They said “Even though it happened, it was the best case scenario if it was going to happen” ⁣

God was with them & me during the procedure ⁣
⁣
God was with me while I was healing⁣
⁣
You might think God isn’t with you because you go through hard times⁣
⁣
But that’s not true, he’s with us even through the hard times.. We just can’t always see it

I want to start sharing more about my journey with learning more about Jesus! ⁣
⁣
I grew up in the Bible Belt & I went to church every Sunday up until I was around 11 or 12. But by the time I was 15, I had completely stopped going⁣
⁣
I really didn’t even consider going back until my husband & I got married.. But it’s been a while now & I finally feel comfortable going back & I actually want to learn more too⁣
⁣
So I want to share more about my experience as an adult who’s just started to learn more about Christianity & Jesus! ⁣
⁣
I feel like a lot of the people I’m friends with grew up in church & they never “fell off” like I did. So I wanted to share my experience for the people who did “fall off” ⁣

When I was 16 I attempted to take my own life.. twice⁣
⁣
⁣
I should’ve died but I didn’t. I fully believe that God helped the first responders & hospital team save me⁣
⁣
There’s a song called Rescue by where she says “I will send out an army to find you in the middle of the darkest night” & even though it makes me cry when I hear it.. it brings me comfort too. Because, That’s exactly what happened. ⁣
⁣
I went from feeling like I was hiding it and struggling alone every day.. to being able to talk openly about my mental health & having an entire army of people who love me that I can trust & talk too ⁣
⁣
I may not understand why he saved me⁣
I may never know to be honest⁣
⁣
But I do know that, he did save me & I’ll forever be grateful for that too

I’m sure you’ve heard this saying before.. Because I know I have⁣
⁣
BUT it didn’t start to click for me until recently⁣
⁣
I’m one of those people where if I feel like I’ve failed previously.. I let it affect how I’m doing in the present which will effect my future as well⁣
⁣
So for example, I was with a company for 2-3 years. I saw some success in it but it wasn’t anything extravagant⁣
⁣
Well the last year I was with the company.. Something changed⁣
⁣
I started to beat myself up for not hitting goals & I just really got in my head about how I was doing.. & I was constantly unhappy and struggling mentally as a result of that ⁣
⁣
But at the same time, I realized all my doodling I was doing.. really made me happy & brought me joy! ⁣
⁣
So after 3 years.. I decided for my mental health that I needed to stop. Which made me feel like a failure because I was quitting without massive success.. ⁣
⁣
But.. taking a step back from that company gave me the idea to share my art on here & make art for others as well!⁣
⁣
Just because I felt like a failure when I left that company.. doesn’t mean I’ll always fail at everything I do⁣
⁣
I know it’s hard sometimes but you can’t let your past define your future⁣
⁣

We went on a weekend trip to a cabin on the bank of the little pigeon river & had the best time! ⁣
⁣
⁣
⭐️We got coffee from Dunkin ⁣
⭐️Broke down on the side of the road & did a quick vehicle change ⁣
⭐️Saw some family & got new nails ⁣
⭐️Fed some geese (which lead into one of us saying “you can’t pet it!” While the other one chased the poor goose) ⁣
⭐️We sat by the river ⁣
⭐️ & Lastly, Brandon finally got an actual wedding band! ⁣
⁣
It’s completely ok to take a step back & disconnect for a few days. Everyone needs a break at some point & there’s nothing wrong with that!⁣
⁣
So if you’re feeling burnt out or drained.. try to take some time off of social media and reconnect with what brings you joy! You never know how much it could help until you try it
