PAL, FASAP SIGN COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT

Philippine Airlines Management and the Flight Attendants and Stewards Association of the Philippines (FASAP) recently signed a Collective Bargaining Agreement at the PAL Head Office in Pasay City after successfully completing rounds of negotiations.

Leading the signing of the CBA were PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Capt. Stanley Ng and FASAP President Bob Anduiza.

In a statement, FASAP expressed its gratitude to PAL leaders for the positive outcome of the PAL - FASAP talks. "FASAP is very thankful to PAL management, President Stanley Ng and the PAL board members for making this deal happen. The signing of the CBA at this critical time of the COVID-19 pandemic propels a new era of trust and cooperation between PAL and FASAP."

FASAP stressed, "When the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the country, PAL’s very existence hung in the balance. During that uncertain and difficult time, when the airline struggled to operate and service the needs of the riding public and the country, the cabin crew members bravely volunteered to man PAL’s repatriation flights to rescue and bring home our Overseas Filipino Workers"

FASAP President Bob Anduiza added, "The goodwill and mutual respect between management and the union will surely be a vital element in the fast tracking of PAL’s recovery. The new CBA offers much needed improvements in the salaries and earnings of the cabin crew members, and most importantly, the resolution of the long standing disagreement on the retirement issues in the CBA is a major morale booster for the crew."

With the signing of the new CBA, FASAP and its members are commited to give its full support to PAL’s recovery and give the best service to the riding public.

Visitors travelling through Mactan-Cebu's Terminal 2 marvel at the glue-laminated (glulam) timber arches that make up the airport’s undulating roof structure. But did you know that MCIA is the first airport in Asia to have a full roof structure made of glulam timber?

These glulam engineered wood beams made out of white alpine spruce from Austria are stronger than steel and have greater strength than comparably sized dimensional lumber, making it typhoon-resistant and termite-free.

The island of Cebu, being a favorite tropical resort destination and recognized as the country’s furniture capital, became the inspiration behind MCIA’s wood-dominant, unconventional design.

Wood is essentially a big part of the airport’s structural elements, which is aimed at expressing the warmth, openness, and beauty of Cebuano culture. T2’s sleek, elegant roof curves easily mimic the waves of the deep blue seas surrounding Cebu, espousing a very special, resort-like atmosphere.

MCIA’s glulam design is a concrete example of engineering excellence and innovation, realizing the country’s dream of having a truly world-class airport.

The soul of the Lumpia of Silay is the ubod or coconut pith. The ubod is always fresh as can be. The coconut tree cut down for ubod only hours before, so that the pith is not only white but sweet and juicy yet crunchy. The crunchiness accentuated by shreds of chicharon (pok cracklings) and local and a leaf of local lettuce.
