ARRL Contest Program Manager Paul Bourque, N1SFE, said there is time to enjoy both the SSB portion of the North American QSO Party (NAQP) and the ARRL January VHF Contest this weekend

Whether you’re interested in contesting on the HF bands, the VHF bands of 50 MHz and above, or both, there’s likely a contest to fit your needs!
👉There's also a bonus opportunity for a college club station to win a national championship!

KH0W

License plate on the KHØW/m car. Have you ever seen a license plate from the Mariana Islands before? Unfortunately the Morse Code Enthusiast license plate frame is obscuring some of the plates lettering. On the top it says HAFA ADAI which is English for "Hello". On the bottom it reads CNMI USA. This is an acronym for Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

As a ham radio purest it's absolutely imperative for all KHØW/m QSOs to take place while the car is actually in motion and NOT sitting stationary. There are numerous deserted oceanside roads on Saipan which I drive while contesting/DXing. For logging I use a laptop attached to the center of my steering wheel running N1MM. I devised a way of mounting the laptop to the center of the steering wheel using a ball bearing mounting plate so when the steering wheel is turned the laptop always faces up. All antennas are full 1/4 wave on 20, 15 & 10 meters.

My little "jellybean" of a car is a Toyota Yaris. The maximum speed limit on KHØ is 35 MPH (56 kph) so large cars are not desirable. Gasoline prices are double that of mainland USA. There are no silly window tinting laws here as evident by the tint on my car

While writing out QSL cards I came across a station from the States that did 368 DXCC from a mobile station. Unbelievable! Congratulations Jerry, you are an inspiration to many people.

Yesterday Wife W0KPH and I set up at K0183 and made 140 contacts. We have been questioned about the REZ Ranger 80 abilities when mounted on the tailgate of my Silverado. I have provided two photos of the RigExpert Zoom when the tuning was completed. Tailgate mount has no noticeable effect on performance

Hmm, interesting 🤔
