Step into the serene world of vintage books, where every book cover holds a piece of history and a story waiting to be told.

Today, I give you three photos featuring some of the blue books from my collection including vintage editions of Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, David Copperfield by Charles Dickens and the Works of the Romantic poets 💙

Back to beautiful old books 🌸📚

Vintage books, pink books, classic reads, they’re all here in this

From the top, we have my collection of Collins and Nelson books, published in the 1920s, in varying shades of faded burgundy and pink. Zoom into photo three to spot the odd one out!

Centre stage are The Floral Birthday Book, c.1876, Willing to be Useful, 1898 and The Garland of Wild Roses, published in 1870.

And to finish, there’s the beautiful hand-painted cover for The Poetical Works of Elizabeth Barret Browning, published in 1902.

A daisy garden of vintage books 🌼

We had a mini heatwave in the UK this last week so here’s the last of the faded florals!

Featured in this photo we have:

The Autocrat of the Nursery published in 1898.

And an undated edition of Ruth Lynn’s Corrie

How do you arrange your books on your shelves?

Photo 1 - By theme or genre. A forest/woodland theme for this book spine photo 🍄

Photo 2 - Organised chaos/no theme. Fairy tales, poetry books, astronomy, travel. Anything goes but somehow it all comes together ✨

Photo 3 - By author, a collection of books by Charles Dickens together on the shelf 📚

The leaves are turning and it’s almost September, I’m ready for autumn. I find more time for reading at this time of year - I’m planning a Shirley Jackson readathon!

In preparation for autumn, the vintage books in this photo are meant to represent the turning of the leaves at this time of year. Many of you know that a large part of my book collection is made up of the great poets so Wordsworth, Burns, E B Browning, Tennyson Byron, Pope and Rossetti are here.

On a separate note, I’m feeling happy that I’ve found my mojo again for photographing old books and maintaining this account. A long break was needed though!

Beautiful old books 🤎

A mixed bag on the shelf today including two personal favourite. An 1893 edition of The Old Garden and Other Verses by Margaret Deland with illustrations by Walter Crane.

And also Shakespeare’s Wild Flowers - Fairy Lore, Gardens, Herbs, Gatherers of Simples & Bee Lore by Eleanor Sinclair Rohde, 1935.
