This is at cheif bowles memorial in Ben wheeler Texas. If you go out here, be respectful of the land. Take an offering of to***co and candy, and don't litter or drink. And don't think you're safe just because you didn't commit anything bad while there, the ghosts are very active and very territorial. As always, be safe, cleanse after ANY investigation, don't use ouija/spirit boards, and ALWAYS thank the spirits for your visit.

Arkansas isn't only known for its boggy creek monster.

Have you ever heard of Dog boy?

In 1954 Gerald Floyd Bettis was born to his parents, Floyd and Alline Bettis.

Welcoming a new baby boy, this couple would deal with what some could only explain as the spawn of Satan himself.

Often from a young age, Gerald would be seen taking in stray cats and dogs off the street. Neighbors thought nothing of this from the beginning, but much to their dismay these animals would never be seen outside of the home, or inside the home when visitors were rarely welcomed into the Bettis house.

That would not be the only concern from Gerald.

Later on in Floyd and Alline's older years, Gerald would do something so sickening that it would make a name for this small town family.

Gerald was quite the character, from animal abuse, neglect and murder, to the same treatment of his parents as he grew older. Gerald locked his parents in the attic of the Bettis home leaving them to starve in their own filth for YEARS. He would often beat them if they begged for food or made any sound at all. Gerald once even threw his father out a window.
It wasn't until Geralds father, Floyd died that Gerald was arrested, months after his father's death and continued abuse of his late aged mother.

It's said that Gerald died in prison from a drug overdose.

You might be asking right now "But Laura, how does this fit in with paranormal and cryptids?"

Well, this is where things go astray from your basic True Crime story.

After Geralds death, The Bettis House started having a lot of paranormal activity. Lights flickering, objects moving, strange noises, y'know, your basic haunting.....

Until it wasn't....

A later resident of the home, Munnerlyn claims to have seen the ghost of Gerald Bettis looking at him several times. "He was this huge, weird-looking cat, with long, brown hair, creepy eyes, and great big arms and hands. He walked right in front of me and glared at me," Munnerlyn said. "Right after I saw him, he walked through the hall and disappeared."

Many other residents have reported similar occurrences. A tall man-like figure, around 300 pounds and with features of a cat or dog is usually reported.

Some local town residents have also reported seeing Gerald wandering the neighborhood looking for stray animals. Some have even reported their outside dogs missing, later to find them in the yard of the Bettis home, or around the area.

Gerald is said to occompany some other spirits in the house, aswell as haunting the town.

Have you ever heard of a woman in white?

A Popular spirit in media and lore, this Ghostly apparition will give many a fright that chills to the bone.

A Woman in white, lady in white, white lady, or more notably - La LLorona is a spirit stricken with grief.

Most woman in white legends start with a woman, newlywed or engaged finding out about their partner being unfaithful. In a bout of rage, the woman takes the life of her significant other, and out of grief, takes her own.

In some cases, a woman in white will drown her children out of grief aswell, like in the case of La LLorona.

Often found by rivers, waterways, highways or abandoned residences, these spirits are considered very dangerous.

Most legends state that if the spirit suspects you as unfaithful, you'll become their next victim unless you can prove your faithfulness to your significant other. Those that look like this apparitions spouse are more likely to become the next case for this poltergeist.

In the instance of La LLorona, this spirit is said to wail by rivers and water looking for her sons, and if you wander too close, she'll take you as her long forgotten child, and drown you too. If a parent is present, they can ask to see the child, and once allowed to do so, they can take off to safety. Another way to escape is to convince the spirit it's not her children.

So, have you ever encountered these dangerous ghastly ghouls? Let us know your stories below!

Have you ever heard of the kappa?

The kappa is a Japanese yokai that's said to have the appearance of a humanoid turtle.

Although kappa are kind to humans on some accounts, they're also said to r**e and pillage.

If you make a kappa bow, and it spills the water from its bowl upon its head and then refill it, the kappa will forever be in debt to you and will serve you for eternity.

Kappa love sumo wrestling, cucumbers, and looking up women's skirts that wander too close to the water's edge.

Kappa are the tricksters of the yokai lore (and perverts....we're looking at you master roshi👀)

In some regions, people would eat cucumbers before getting into the water as a means of keeping kappa away. They'd also carve the names of loved ones into cucumber, then set it afloat in the water to keep their loved ones safe while swimming or working in the streams. Although some regions ate cucumber to stay safe, others believed that was a sure way to draw a kappa to you.

So, with this short knowledge on kappa, have you ever had any experiences with one? Let us know below.

Have you ever heard of the Wendigo?

The Wendigo is an enormous cryptid towering anywhere from 8 to 16 feet in height with a heart of ice. This native creature is said to emit a foul stench smelling much like rotten deer meat and sulfur.

Depictions of this Foul, flesh-eating beast are commonly shown as a rotting deer-human hybrid with joints that bend in the wrong direction, and a height that could match that of a giant.

This creature is said to be a person of the tribe who has obtained the taste for human flesh, in turn turning them crazy for the taste and unable to control the insatiable hunger for humanity. Born out of cannibalism, these creatures are a force to be reckoned with.

"The wendigo is known to invoke feelings of insatiable greed/hunger, the desire to cannibalize other humans, as well as the propensity to murder those that fall under its influence" -wiki

Wendigos are said to bring along a chill with their presence. These monsters are said to be extremely fast, and well hidden in their atmosphere.

The wendigo is seen as the embodiment of gluttony, greed, and excess: never satisfied after killing and consuming one person, they are constantly searching for new victims.

Some stories depict a wendigo kidnapping a boy and allowing him to live in an attempt to fatten him up before consumption. He travels with the boy to a city where he sends the boy in to eat as much as he can, and the boy tells the city of the wendigo, and they hunt him down and cut his legs off. While waiting on the creature to die, they check back with him only to find him slurping the marrow from his own legs that the city had cut off.

If you ever find yourself near a wendigo, the only way to escape is to rip out its ice-cold heart and burn it in the hottest flame you can muster.

So, have you ever had an experience with one of these horrific creatures? Let us know your stories!

Have you ever heard of the Manananggal?

It's a Filipino legend/spirit with bat-like wings and sharp vampire fangs.

"The manananggal is an old mythical creature in the Philippines that separate from their lower part of the body and their fangs and wings give it a vampire-like appearance." - Wikipedia

The manananggal is a creature that likes to commonly prey on sleeping pregnant women by unrolling an unnaturally long tongue, slurping out the heart of the fetus, and then consuming the mother's blood.

It's also said to haunt newlyweds.

As the legend goes, If you ever come across the lower half sprinkle salt on the severed area, or smear crushed garlic. It is fatal to the creature and prevents the two halves of the body from reconnecting. By sunrise, the creature would die.

Common names for this creature include manananggal, tikwi, tik tik, wak wak, and many other various names. These names are associated with an umbrella term for spirits & supernatural creatures called aswangs.
