Find Hope in the King!
As the darkness of winter sets in, let hope dawn in our hearts as we celebrate and enjoy the story of our King.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)
He was, is, and is to come. He has always been, always is, and always will be. He is eternal and He is here. And, the best news of all is that He is here for you; He is on your side. Leaving the glories of heaven and wrapping Himself in the flesh of humanity, He came to shine the true light into darkness and offer hope.
As God in flesh, He dwelt among us showing the glory of the Father and ushering in a season full of grace and truth (John 1:14).
May the truth of His arrival shine His glory into your darkness, and may His grace rest upon you giving you hope.
The King has come to dwell with us. In that thought, I will hope!

The King is coming ...
Yesterday, I spent most of the morning cleaning my house. Why was I cleaning my house? I had company coming, of course.
With yesterday being Thanksgiving, naturally I hosted a small crowd. Usually, our crowd includes our children and a set of grandparents, but yesterday was different. I had real company coming – you know, people with whom I am not related. This meant that my house had to be really clean.
It’s funny how we change our behavior when we know we have company coming. We dust. We vacuum. We scrub, and more. We do all of this because we want our homes to be warm, welcoming places for the people who come to visit.
We want them to feel right at home.
This makes me think about the fast-approaching Advent season. This Advent season, company is coming. It’s not just any company – it’s the King of kings!
As I reflect on my dash to clean my house yesterday morning in preparation for the arrival of my company, I can’t help but wonder if maybe I should do the same for the King?
Now, I know that Jesus isn’t going to arrive at my physical door in person, but He is going to stand at the door of my heart and knock. Shouldn’t I have my heart ready for Him to come? Shouldn’t I be dusting the furniture, vacuuming the floors, scrubbing, and so much more? Should my heart be ready so that when He does arrive, He will find a warm, welcoming place?
It’s so easy in the crazy and busy of the holiday season to forget Who the holiday season is really about.
This season is about Jesus, the King of kings, and His arrival to our world.
This Advent season, I want to make sure that I am ready for the arrival of the King. But how do I prepare for the arrival of the King?
I begin with His story. This Advent season, I am going to read through, pray about, and meditate on His story one day at a time. Each day of this Advent season, I am going to let His story enter in as I open the door of my heart and invite Him to dine with me. I’m goin
