🎉 Episode 32 Out Now
To kick of the return of the show, I recently spoke with Nina Aouilk, who was the victim of an extremely violent upbringing. Having defied the odds by surving, she now coaches high-performing and high-achieving athletes and individuals, while also raising awareness for gender based abuse, forced marriages, honour killings and controversial 'traditional' practices.

In this conversation, I get to find out just how she managed to get back up after being knocked down (literally) so many times - and how that propelled her to be able to achieve and provide what she is today.

🤢 Dealing with food intolerances
🍨 The inspiration behind starting and coming up with the name
💼 The ups and downs of running your own business
👩‍❤️‍👨 The fascinating story of her parents (Bollywood watch out!)

🏆 While maybe just a small step on the road to some of the bigger hopes and goals for this platform, I was SO grateful to end 2021 with this AMAZING email from Feedspot where the team had chosen The Journey Onwards in their list of Top 20 Third Culture podcasts GLOBALLY. 🌎

💯 For all of you regular listeners and close friends & family of mine, you’ll know already that I do this out of a personal love & passion for the topic, the stories and the chance to connect with some amazing people - some who I’d known for a while, but all who I now hold a much closer and genuine relationship with. And through your guest recommendations, honest feedback and frequent sharing with others.. it just shows what a side passion can turn into and provide to people around the world.

🙏🏼 A huge thank you to each guest, listener and to all of you reading this; as well as the team at Feedspot for your recognition!
On to even more milestones and more fascinating conversations I plan to bring you in 2022!

👀 how privilege can create an open-minded character
🤔 Risk aversion vs. risk taking in children of immigrants following their creative passions
📈 'Behind the scenes' of some of the well known high achievers
👨‍🎓Is moderate success in your passion enough to ensure a balanced life?

🆕In one of my favourite conversations, and I share a highly entertaining while deeply insightful episode where we cover many chapters of her life.

🇺🇸🇮🇳 As an 'American Indian', Shavika shares the really cool background of her family roots which extend through India and South Africa; how she dealt with her American and Indian identities; what she thinks of the working culture of the Silicon Valley tech world; plus rebelling against some of the 'norms' of the culture to work on what she's doing today.
