How does the Explore page work??? 🤔

The algorithm tracks the users’ daily interactions to capture their interests and preferences. Considering this data, the system generates content, which is relevant to every individual user.

These posts are generated based on:

▪️ Posts that are fresh and see a lot of engagement
▪️ The types of content you regularly engage with
▪️ Accounts that you’re already following
▪️ The types of posts that see engagement from people you follow

Getting to the Instagram Explore page is a kind of an account promotion, without having to pay anything. It allows you to get seen in front of an entirely new, and TARGETED audience!

As you saw in this carousel, these clients reached up to a quarter of a million NEW people, thanks to the Explore page! 😲

Attempting to get them to know, like, and trust you - right? ⁠

The know-like-trust method is a widely known concept in traditional marketing, and there is a time and place to tap into this method, but don’t let it be an excuse to talk about yourself too much. ⁠

Don’t let your personal stories become your priority within your marketing. Not unless you can relate that personal story BACK to your audience. ⁠

NOW. Before you start to disagree....we aren’t saying that you should never show a personal side to your business. ⁠

What we are saying is that there is such a thing as TOO much personal if you’re a business trying to use social media as a legitimate marketing channel. ⁠

On social media, you are speaking to people who don’t know they need your service or product yet. To effectively do this, you should have a message that resonates with THEIR lifestyle....not YOURS. ⁠

If you have a personal story to share, do it! Just try to incorporate a main takeaway for your customer. They should walk away with something for THEMSELVES with every piece of content (stories not included). ⁠

As always, there are exceptions to these ‘rules’ but, remember that you’re trying to tap into the desires of your customer. ⁠

Ask yourself: ⁠

▪️ How can your content relate to the everyday life of your average customer? What will make them smile, nod, or feel compelled to do something?⁠
▪️ How does your messaging solve a simple daily problem they have in their lives?⁠
▪️ Why is the caption you’re sharing important to them? What will they learn or feel? ⁠

No. The use of automation should be to simplify your process and save you time. Having 1,000 comments on a post because you told them to comment on something below doesn’t count here. 😆 ⁠

We’re all for automation when it’s necessary, but it doesn’t build a sense of community! REAL comments and interaction is what does that! ⁠

Social media growth is an ongoing process. Hate to break it to you, but it won’t happen overnight. Keep working hard and be patient with seeing results. If it’s been a while and you’re still not seeing growth, it might be time to change things up!⁠

Remember, growth is a marathon, not a sprint. 🏃⁠

If you’re seeing a drop in interactions, try not to worry. It’s completely normal for engagement to ebb and flow with any given season. ⁠

Our best advice is to consider your current expectations and make sure they’re realistic. Did you know the average engagement rate is typically less than 1.5%? If you’re expecting a 10% engagement rate on all of your content, it’s unrealistic! ⁠

Content Pillars aren’t meant to be complicated, but unfortunately, they aren’t THAT straightforward either. ⁠

Let’s build out a hypothetical situation. ⁠

You’re an online store that sells humorous t-shirts and your target audience is millennial women in the midwest.⁠

If you follow the parameters of educational, inspirational, and promotional you’re going to be in trouble. There’s only so much you can ‘educate’ your audience on in this instance, and we’re pretty certain inspirational content would just confuse them. 🤪⁠

Now, this is an oversimplified example, but we think you get the idea. They have a unique customer journey, a unique target audience, and a unique value proposition as a business. That means they need unique content pillars. ⁠

The purpose of Content Pillars is to keep your brand focused and intentional with your content marketing. It’s meant to push your customers through the buying experience, and those pillars help you do just that. ⁠

These platforms do have ‘rules’ that help your performance and if you want to complain about those rules, that’s totally cool. BUT, you need to recognize that you get the opportunity to market your business for FREE on this app and that might mean you need to put in the freaking WORK and play by their rules.⁠

Showing up every day doesn’t guarantee anything. Nothing worth having comes easy (as cheesy as that sounds).⁠

Build the strategy. Show up more. Show up differently. Take a stance. Step outside your comfort zone. Invest where necessary. It’s different for everyone, whatever it is. But it’s the SAME in that we all need to put in the work.⁠
