Several weeks ago, I received documentation from employee morale and retention feedback (see attached excerpts).

The intended and/or unintended consequences of policies and practices are felt by those who have to live under them...parents, students, teachers, and school-based administrators. People should never be intimidated into silence because they fear the outcome of openly speaking the truth and advocating for students' and/or their professional needs.

Some would ask why I did not support collective bargaining, as this appears to be an obvious solution to improving employee morale. The answer is simple. You cannot buy a modification of culture and behavior by imposing more bureaucracy.

If you solemnly swear to support the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia, you should know about parental rights and be ready to defend them. They aren’t a matter of D or R affiliation.

I will NEVER back down or give up on children. Never, ever, ever! Kids are my LIFE. I think for myself and I owe nothing to no one. We need more of that.

I pledge allegiance to the United States, not a political party. On 11/15/22 I took an oath to support the US Constitution and the VA Constitution on the LCPS Board. Every person running for School Board in 2023 needs to remember this.

Anyone running for School Board in the US should be well-versed in social emotional learning. Board members take an oath to support the Constitution of the United States. SEL violates parents’ rights.

Candidates who say SEL is about teaching empathy and kindness are in the minor leagues. CASEL loves them because they are useful in their cause.

Ask yourself why teachers would be tasked with implementing what is essentially cognitive behavioral therapy when they have no business doing so under any circumstances given their credentials.

It’s not about what’s best for children. It’s about what’s best for the experts who profit off of fad educational programs. This is nothing new. Thomas Sowell wrote about psychological-conditioning in Inside American Education, published in 1993.

And that’s a far cry from how we got here…

It is my belief that more bureaucracy, power, and control within our school system will not benefit children. That is why I did not vote to support the collective bargaining resolution in LCPS.

For the first time since 1977 Loudoun County Public School teachers and staff members have a collective bargaining agreement.
