Day three of the Swiss Alps Trek with was a HOT one!

We left Mürren after lunch (it was so nice to have a chilled morning) and headed towards Rotstockhütte which was our accommodation for the night.

I listened to the Sound of Music soundtrack for the majority of the hike which might sound cheesy but it was just the lift I needed (and was absolutely the vibe of the surrounding mountains and pastures)

There was very little signal at the hut which was nice (and weird!) but also, very little sleep by most of our group so today we’re a little worse for wear and excited for a night of slumber!

Day two of trekking through the Swiss Alps with 🏔️🥾🇨🇭

We left Lauterbrunnen, after breakfast, and headed along the valley floor to the Schilthorn Cableway where we got the cable car to Gimmelwald.

Then it was a downhill stomp before an incredible steep and long climb to the summit of Tanzbodeli (or “The Dancefloor”)

It was an out and back route and once we arrived back in Gimmelwald, we jumped on another cable car which took us to Mürren where we stayed for the night!

Overall, it was a long and really hard day and there were many times I thought about giving up but I’m so glad I powered through (even if I was the back marker the whole way!)

Isn’t it ironic…don’t you think?!

It’s “Self Care Day” today and I’ve decided today is the day I’m officially out of my funk! Since being ill at the beginning of the month, my mojo, drive, fun, just life in general has been sucked out of me!

Since being made redundant (yes, I’m still bitter) and going full time between the ‘gram and VA, I’ve had the best time but these past two weeks have been vile. My mood has been at an all time low, to the point that I don’t even want to go outside the house! So my self care has been finding comfort deep inside books and TV shows (with some added chocolate on the side!)

But, I’m done with that. I’m bored of that version of me. I know, it’s not that easy to just snap out of a funk but this is what I’m telling myself! So, that’s my form of self care today.

Whatever you’re doing today, however you’re feeling, remember to take care of yourself 🫶🏻

It’s been a week (literally and figuratively!)

Since Wednesday evening I’ve been, on and off, ill ill ill.

In between being under the blanket on the sofa, binge watching TV and snuggling in bed with my book, I’ve also been trying to finalise wedding details (still not done and it’s six weeks away!)

I obviously haven’t been on any adventures (big or small!) and don’t really have anything to post about but I’m here to tell you, that’s ok! It’s ok if you haven’t been out and it’s ok if you’ve got bigger things to deal with than social media (cos the world is bigger than social media)

Thankfully, I’m starting to feel so much better (I even managed to go spinning today!) and I’m heading to LDN on Thursday so the only thing I need now is some sunshine…but maybe I’m pushing my luck there?!

Look, I don’t know what’s happening right now if Jupiter is in the microwave or Neptune drank the Gatorade but honestly, this mood is not a vibe!

So, I’m posting a picture of absolute joy, in the outdoors (obvs) and when the weather actually resembled something closer to summer than this dismal early autumn disaster that’s here. I know we all get bored of going on about the weather (I’m boring myself just typing this) but I’d just like a good stint of sunshine to bring my mood back to something that resembles less of a goblin.

Anyway, have a great Sunday whatever you’re going to do. I’m going to go to the garden centre to “not” buy plants 😏

As the weather improves, I find myself less inclined to head for the mountains.

Maybe it’s the crowds? Or maybe it’s because I don’t feel that fit right now and I’m carrying a little extra weight (not just in my rucksack!) Perhaps I’m just getting lazy?!

I know only I can change how I feel, but I want you all to know that we can all feel a bit “meh” sometimes, no matter how we choose to spend our time or what we post on social media.

So please, don’t set your standards based on what I do. I post to inspire you to explore, be outdoors, be happy, and be real. Even if you just sit in your garden (for me, it’s my balcony!) with your morning cuppa, that time outdoors can make a world of difference to your day.

I’m excited for what the future holds over the next few weeks, in all aspects of life. But first, here’s to spending more time feeling good about ourselves 🫶🏻

Bagging this trig was similar to my job search; arduous, tedious, extremely undulating and unnecessary (if I hadn’t been made redundant, yes, I’m still VERY bitter)

But I did both, bagged the trig and got a job (not on the same day!)

Cold beans are off the menu!

Also, please look at how I had to get to this trig (swipe across) and the joy when I managed to grab hold!

Day two of started with a short walk to the train station and catching the train into the mountains 🚞

We arrived in the town of Stroské Pleso and began our hike up to Skok Waterfall.

Legend has it that the waterfall started from a girl’s tears (isn’t it always 🤷🏼‍♀️), over a chamois (🐐) poacher who died here

The terrain was rocky but not too steep and the weather was kind to us (even though heavy downpours were predicted!)

The High Tatras are breathtakingly beautiful and the water is so clear and crisp but it is illegal to swim in the national park (I’m gutted but I get it and respect it)

After the atrocity of last night, I arrived in Slovakia exhausted!

I actually considered whether to go on day one’s activities of the trip or to stay at the hotel and sleep but I’m so glad I went! After all, I might only get one chance to water raft down the Dunajec and walk across a bridge to Poland for ice cream!

Finished off with a beautiful pasta dish at the hotel and heading to bed before 7:30pm, it’s been a great first day in Slovakia!

New to wild camping? Me too!

Over the past 12 months I’ve learnt to pack lighter and smarter. However, these are some of my non-essential essential items that always make it into my backpack!

⛺️ home sweet tent
☕️ sachet coffee - I know, it’s not refined but it’s easy, quick and light
💡 tiny cube light - I hang this on a hook in my tent and it casts light all over the tent
📖 my kindle - because honestly, I’d be lost without it! And when I can’t sleep, at least I can read!
🤫 ear plugs - in case it’s windy or you have a camp mate who snores! Thanks to for the recommendation on these ear plugs!
🔥 hand warmers - these ones are great because they’re air activated meaning you just rip open the packet and they warm up. They stay warm through the night (I used these in Finland!) but I also have some rechargeable ones that second as a power bank!
🎵 earphones - for when you really can’t sleep but too tired to read, listen to music!

What are your non-essential essentials for a camp?

Today will forever be known as many miles Monday!
outdoors & I set off for a hike (planned, routed, maps, the works) and decided to ignore it after a certain point in search of waterfalls…

12.66 miles later, we made it back to the cars that we left at 10am this morning!

Blisters galore, depleted body batteries, wet feet and a hitchhiking tick are only part of the story but today definitely left me with a soul full of joy and a peaceful mind (and thankful that I don’t have to get up early tomorrow!)

Just dropping in to say “I’m still here!”

My get up and go has got up and gone with pretty much everything over this past week (since coming back to reality) and that includes getting outside which annoys me because I know that it would help my mood!

Staying positive, making plans, getting my steps in, enjoying the sunshine; one step at a time.

Throwback to this time last week when I was searching out a possible local(ish) camp spot and enjoying my lunch in the great outdoors.

It feels like an age since my birthday, since Portugal, since I had a job (😂) and since I was at this beaut swim spot, so I’m giving myself something to look forward to…the next group hike!

This one is going to be in The Lake District (still female only, sorry lads) on Saturday 8th June.

All of the details can be found on my eventbrite page (link in bio!) including how to book!

Can’t wait to see you there (oh and for more adventures, swims and continuing to live my best unemployed life!)

Hands up who loves a solo trip 🙌🏼

Don’t get me wrong, I love going on trips with the girl gang and taking holidays with Daniel but this trip was SOLO MIO!

This was actually my first ever, proper, solo trip! I’ve travelled to places on my own and met up with strangers as a group but as for actual solo, this was my first time and it was amazing!

If you’re wondering about taking a solo trip, why not go somewhere you can drive to, so that if you’re unsure, you can come home as soon as you want!

I stayed in during my time in Cornwall (post about the accommodation coming soon!) and it was in the perfect location to explore all of these amazing spots!

📍 St Anthony Head
📍 Porthcurno Beach
📍 Porthtowan Tidal Pool
📍 Godrevy Lighthouse
📍 St Michaels Mount
📍 Marazion Beach
📍 Ferry back from St Mawes
📍 Shipwreck, Sennen Cove
📍 Natural (and actual) Lands End
📍 Wheal Coates, St Agnes Head

don’t misunderstand this as me not panicking and stressing out about the fact I was made redundant and have no job or taking this trip for granted, that’s not what this is. what this is, is me trying to make the best of a terrible situation and honestly, it’s been an incredible week so far and I have Lou & Ben to thank for that 💚

see trig, must bag it

Today was my first full day in Cornwall and whilst I wanted to start off slow, I was wide awake at 6am and applying for jobs by 6:15am!

I had a catch up with the amazing Lou from and we spoke about all the great places to visit in and around the area and St Agnes was my top pick…possibly because Lou told me all about the incredible sausage rolls you can get

It’s only a 25 minute drive from here and I knew I’d be heading along the South West Coast Path, towards St Agnes Head but didn’t have a route (was planning on an out and back)

When I saw the trig of St Agnes Beacon and Wheal Coates mining ruins in the distance, I knew I had to make a circular route for myself which I did on the Maps app - swipe to see my route (and I’ll link it in my stories & highlights!)

The coastal path is phenomenally beautiful but it was also incredibly windy today (maybe it is every day, it is being thwacked by the Atlantic day in, day out!) and I’ll definitely be heading back on to the coastal path before my trip ends!

*Life Update*

I love the sunrise more than a sunset. A sunset seems so final, it’s the end and then darkness comes. With the sunrise comes hope, day break, a new beginning.

You’ve probably noticed I’ve been deathly silent on social media this week and that’s because on Monday, I was made redundant.

I’ve been trying to process it, understand it and even reason with it but apparently, I haven’t been able to do that. I’m not sure when it’s going to hit me that I’m actually now unemployed. I feel like I’m about to get on a raft that will take me out to sea and I’ll need to find my way back to the safety of the shore but without an oar or engine!

Who knows what the next few weeks will bring? I certainly don’t but what I do know is that I’m going to use this time to fill my soul with all things that make me feel good; be in the outdoors; go swimming; go camping (weather permitting) whilst also job hunting!

Everything happens for a reason so I guess I just need to roll with it (not that I have any other choice!)

Definitely won’t be doing this, this weekend!

Storm Kathleen is heading in but before the rain settles (till the end of forever!) I’m heading out today! I’m staying low with the route I’ve planned and it’s somewhere I haven’t visited before! I’ll let you know the details if it’s a good ‘un (I make no promises 😂)

I’d love to hear what you do when the weather is too rough to head to the mountains!
