I miss the puppy stage, but it also had its challenges. This device from @bowwowlabs was one of the things that helped me get through it. Long-term chews such as bully sticks are a positive distraction and great for mental stimulation. They satisfy their urge to chew, clean their teeth, deliver nutrients, and keep them occupied. However, with all this good comes a serious risk. The last inch of a bully stick can be a choking hazard if swallowed. That is why I HIGHLY recommend every dog parent gets the Bow Wow Buddy. This safety device allows your pup to enjoy the benefits of long-term chews while reducing choking risks. If you want one, use the promo GOLDEN for 10% off. Check out our blog on the Life Protecting Bow Wow Buddy to learn more. Note: As a puppy, Emma used the medium buddy with thin 6" bully sticks. Both Ellie and Emma now have the large buddy with thick 6" bully sticks. Happy Safe Snacking! #goldenretrieverlife #dog #enrichment #mentalstimulation #puppy #wfh #bffs
Ellie picks favorite bbq food! Ellie loves to taste food, but not all human foods are safe for dogs. To avoid confusion for you and any pain for your dog, here is a list of 39 fruits and vegetables dogs can eat and can’t eat. Remember… Even with the “yes,” it is always important to check on your pup after trying a new food. This is especially true for puppies as their stomachs and growing bodies are often extra sensitive. It is also important to practice moderation when giving dogs and fruits or vegetables. And don’t use seasoning either. Another note for you dog parents, remember the 10% rule. Treats and snacks shouldn’t make up any more than 10 percent of your dog’s caloric intake. Here are 39 different fruits and vegetables and if they are safe for dogs. Apples - YES (But No Seeds) Asparagus - NO Avocado - NO Bananas - YES Bell Peppers - YES (But Limit Consumption) Blackberries - YES Blueberries - YES Broccoli - YES (But Limit Consumption) Brussel Sprouts - YES Cantaloupe - YES Carrots - YES Celery - YES Cherries - NO Coconut - YES (But No Husk) Cranberries - YES Cucumbers - YES Grapefruit - NO Grapes - NO Green Beans - YES Lemons - NO (Unless in small amounts of juice) Limes - NO (Unless in small amounts of juice) Lettuce - YES Mango - YES (But No Pits) Mushrooms - NO Nectarines - YES (But No Pits) Onions - NO Oranges - YES Peaches - YES (But No Pits) Pears - YES Peas - YES Pineapple -YES Plums - NO Potatoes - YES Raspberries - YES (But Limit Consumption) Strawberries - YES Spinach - YES (But Limit Consumption) Sweet Potatoes - YES Tomatoes - NO Watermelon - YES (But No Seeds or Rind)

These are the kind of days that bring us the most joy! Storytime 📚 We never expected to have a community on social media, but now that we do, our priority has always been to use it for good. So about a year ago, Katie and I began researching nonprofits we could bring into our Mission to Spread Smiles. Enter @Warrior Canine Connection. They train service dogs for veterans using a Mission Based Trauma Recovery model. I love this model because every dog helps dozens of veterans during the ~2-year training process before being paired with their veteran as a service dog. On a recent visit to WCC, I noticed they use bully sticks for positive association training but didn’t have Bow Wow Buddies to help prevent choking and intestinal blockage. So I reached out to our friends at @bowwowlabs We love Bow Wow Labs and often post about their products because they have the potential to save lives. But their response to our request made us love them even more! They offered to supply 150 Bow Wow Buddies for all the WCC service dogs in training. This is huge because once the puppies are old enough, they go home with volunteer puppy raisers who have a challenging job and could use some time to relax. Plus, they committed to providing every WCC service dog a graduation give of a Bow Wow Buddy starter kit and a bully stick subscription! So THANK YOU, Bow Wow Labs, for your generosity and dedication to keeping dogs safe. If you want to support WCC or watch live puppy cams, check out their website. If you want a Bow Wow Buddy for your pup, use the promo GOLDEN for 10% off. #goldenretrieverlife #dog #nonprofit #smile #happy #veterans #servicedogs
