The house designed by showcases a contemporary design with clean lines and a minimalist aesthetic. The light-colored brick facade creates a sense of warmth and openness, complementing the surrounding greenery. Large windows flood the interior with natural light, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Project of the Week: Casa Cono, designed by for a young couple, offers a space for living, working, and daily routines in a woodland setting. The design respects the natural terrain, integrating with the landscape and highlighting each tree. The structure consists of two layered and rotated rectangular volumes, optimizing views with translucent facades that connect the interior and exterior. Expansive windows frame the outdoor scenery.

The ground floor features public spaces, including a sheltered patio, kitchen, study, and a combined living, dining, and kitchen area. The upper level, accessed by an integrated staircase, houses the bedrooms. From the approach, the house appears weightless, gently resting on the land. The entrance at the rear reveals stunning views, enhancing the sense of arrival. 📸:

𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 | by

“The main key concept for the development of the project was the forest on the site. When we first met with the customer on his land we saw high age-old pines and we got extremely inspired by them. So we discussed with the Client that our goal is to create and build a house that would be one with nature. There was also a request from the owner to build a house from environmentally friendly materials.

The client initially didn’t know at all what he wanted. He was thrown from side to side from a heavy suite to ascetic nothingness ... he asked to make an ordinary hut in the forest, while he never perceived things or economy-class furniture ... One day he wanted to see absolute brutality in the house, on another day he swore at us what could one offer him such a thing and what is all this for, here is a good design (pointing and poking at pictures with heavy luxury) .. As a result, we were looking for a design for a very long time. We tried to understand who he really is, our Client, what he needs. So, at some point we felt the edge of moderate luxury at the junction with asceticism and brutalism ... and he began to like him (and we too)...”

Pedoulas House in Pedoulas, Nicosia, Cyprus, by [IG]

The Pedoulas House is a holiday home designed as a response to the intense elevation differences of a large plot in Cyprus. In order to give the tenants unobstructed views of the forest from all areas of the house, large glass surfaces were implemented, and can even expand the house to the outdoor areas during the summer months. The 319 m2 house is designed and visualised by GDM architecture and will be built in Pedoulas, Cyprus.

Inspired by Scottish Shielings traditionally found high up on the hillside - the word Shieling comes from the Old Norse ‘Skjol’ meaning shelter. This unique hideaway sleeps couples or families and features panoramic windows which perfectly frame the stunning views of Loch Duich, the iconic Eilean Donan Castle and the Kintail Mountains. Celebrating modern Scandinavian and Scottish craftsmanship, Hill House is designed to immerse and restore guests in nature. Honest natural materials and an earthy, interior colour palette mimic and reflect the surrounding landscape creating a deeply restorative experience.
