Those absolute mad lads at Hasbro actually made them compatible! Well, sort of. The gloves are a perfect fit, is my point. The chest piece is obviously completely the wrong size, but you can balance it on there if you're careful, and of course you need an OG Dragonzord chest piece to complete the ensemble. I honestly didn't expect this to even be remotely possible though - if this was done deliberately by Hasbro (if it wasn't, the gloves are a staggering coincidence), it was very well played on their part. All we need now is some enterprising soul with a 3D printer to make some custom chest pieces - any takers?

Of course, since I had it down I had to have a little play with Titanus and the ZAP Megazord as well. It's too bad they'...

I swear, I will finish this project at some point! For this week I wanted to show off my Black & Gold Thunder Megazord, complete with newly painted staff weapon. I still need to repaint the Dragon Thunderzord, but I'm a little scared to start given how fiddly that's going to be! I'm looking into the possibility of dying the plastic rather than repainting it - if that works, it'll give a much better end result.

A bit of a proof of concept here today. I wanted to try using my chrome markers to bling up my Ninja Megazord, and since I had a spare wolf zord lying around I thought I'd try it on this one first. It's harder than I thought to get a smooth finish with these markers, but it's not impossible. The photos don't fully do justice to how it looks in person, but I'm quite happy with how it came out :)

This mode though, this one's impressive. Every version of this toy released since the 90s has had the same problem - the Dragonzord is so heavy the knees struggle to hold the whole thing upright. While this can be posed to mitigate the problem anyway (as in the picture), the knees are robust enough that it doesn't slouch over under its own weight. Well played, Hasbro.

The weirdest thing is they seem to be on proper ball and sockets, but there's no range of motion in them at all. That might be my one complaint about this figure - otherwise it looks great!

I've been working on (read: thinking about) a relatively simple project involving these for days now. The biggest problem has been motivation, though I did succeed today in taking these models down, morphing them back into their spaceship modes, and giving them a thorough dusting. For I'm throwing it back, kinda. This is the first DX Megazord I ever owned, and I realised looking back that it's been three years to the day since it landed on my doorstep! I bought it for myself during lockdown, when I was bingeing a bunch of old TV shows I'd enjoyed as a kid as a form of escapism. Then I remembered I had grownup money and no supervision, so for my birthday I treated myself to a bit of childhood wish fulfilment! Then I went hunting on ebay for the MMPR Megazord from the nineties, and it all kinda snowballed from there!

Anyway, this was back before I was taking photos of everything and posting them on here, so I never did a proper photo series for this one, so here we go!

I spent a good couple of hours last night cannibalising two broken Red Dragon Thunderzords to make one complete one. Those arms are extremely prone to breaking due to a combination of brittle plastic and a lot of force required to move them, especially if the metal rod through the hinge has started to rust. I'll be selling off the fella with the fetching wristbands - I figured I'd opt for a non-permanent way of fixing them together in case someone else wanted a bash at fixing him up.

I forgot to post these at the time, but for here's the Christmas present I bought myself last year - Hasbro's Zord Ascencion Project (Lightining Collection) Megazord! I love the way this guy looks, though combining the zords was a bit hairy at times due to the stiffness of some of the connections - I was scared I'd break my expensive new toy! It's well built though, and I needn't have worried. And did I mention how badass it looks?

I think that went well! I'll post some photos of these with their respective Megazords soon, but I'll need to take down, dismantle and dust two ultrazords to do that and my feet are KILLING me after standing up to paint these things in my kitchen all evening. Fun fact: did you know the Time Force Megazord sword pommel is actually clear green plastic painted silver? If you strip the paint with a little acetone and a cotton bud, you can reveal the pretty jewel at the centre!
