If you don't eat fish, follow a vegan or vegetarian diet, or just want to get more omega-3s in, you may want to make sure that walnuts and flaxseeds are a part of your eating plan. It seems far-fetched. But scientists have just accomplished this with a new technique that could lead to major breakthroughs in anti-aging and regenerative medicine.

What is regenerative medicine? As we age, our cells break down and begin to lose their function. They develop markers of aging which in turn, could lead to disease. Regenerative medicine focuses on restoring cellular function.

This is one of the most restorative yoga poses that can be performed as often as every day or whenever you feel the need to relax and revive yourself.

This is also a safe pose for pregnant women to help relieve swelling in the legs and feet. Avoid this pose if you have hypertension, glaucoma, or hernia.

How to practice:
- You can place a bolster, blanket, or pillow under your hips. - - You may also bend your knees if needed in this pose.
- Sit with your right side against the wall, with bent knees and your feet drawn in toward your hips.
- Bring your legs up against the wall as you turn to lie flat on your back.
- You may need to scoot closer to the wall to bring your sits bones as close as possible.
- You can stay in this pose for 10-15 minutes.
- To come out slowly, bring your legs back down and push yourself away from the wall.
- Stay lying on your side for a moment or two before slowly coming up.

Plantains, a less sweet member of the banana family, are a great source of potassium, fiber, and resistant starch a kind of carbohydrate that breaks down slowly and feeds good gut bacteria. This makes an excellent snack or side dish!

You will need:
- 2 ripe plantains (they should be yellow with brown spots)
- Coconut oil, melted to a liquid
- Sea salt

Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Peel and slice the plantains into discs.
- Place the plantains on the pan and lightly brush with melted coconut oil.
- Sprinkle with sea salt.
- Roast in the oven for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through to evenly cook.

A survey of 16,000 adults across 50 of the most populated US cities looked at "several factors including workout habits, commitment to sufficient sleep, stress levels, connection to community, and spirituality, among other wellness behaviors and attitudes."

Using an algorithm based on the questionnaire, the company came up with their list, and the top spot may surprise you.

Light Exposure Could Disrupt Kids' Sleep.
The parents of 36 pre-school aged children participated in the study. They were asked to fill out a sleep diary for their children for 7 days. This set a baseline for each child's usual sleep habits. The children were then exposed to a bright LED light, one hour before bedtime. Their melatonin levels were measured every 20-30 minutes before and after exposure to the light.

The findings:
- During the exposure to the bright LED light, the children's melatonin levels were lowered by 69 - 98%.

These 3 ingredient brownies are a healthier way to enjoy the classic treat, with no sugar added they are still oh so sweet.

You will need:
- 3 very ripe large bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups raw crunchy almond butter

Instructions:
1- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2- Prepare an 8 x 8-inch baking dish by spraying it with cooking oil.
3- In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas well. Add the almond butter and cocoa and mix until smooth and well combined.
4- Pour the batter into the baking dish and cook for 20-25 minutes or until the top is firm and darkened slightly.
5- Allow to cool completely, slice, and serve.

These effects begin with just one pint of beer or glass of wine. That's according to findings from a study of how alcohol impacts the brain.

Using data from MRI imaging on 36,000 adults, researchers from the University of Pennsylvania looked at the link between alcohol and the brain. The volunteers responded to surveys about their drinking habits while the team looked at their grey and white brain matter volume changes. As we age, the brain naturally loses volume or, in other words, loses brain cells called neurons. But when outside factors accelerate this loss, it essentially means the brain is "aging" at a faster rate.

A procedure known as limb-lengthening surgery can actually add inches to a person's height. Pioneered during WWII, the surgery was initially used to help soldiers returning from war with injuries. The technique has improved since, though nowadays the orthopedic surgery is most often used to help people with dwarfism or those with severely imbalanced leg lengths due to congenital disabilities or injuries.

Now, more and more people elect to have this surgery purely for cosmetic reasons. They want to be taller.
