In a dynamic fusion of fashion and urban lifestyle, Akio Hasegawa (), the renowned curator and forerunner of Japan’s “City Boy” fashion trend, has introduced his latest collection in Hong Kong.

The collection, a collaboration with Japanese label IS-NESS, encapsulates the City Boy aesthetics, a concept that has significantly influenced Japanese fashion in the past decade. Presented by Open Dialogue, the collection made its debut at .werkstatt , through a unique pop-up exhibit running from September 27 to October 10.

Hasegawa, currently with .jp, and founder of the lifestyle platform .houyhnhnm, personally curated the lookbook against the iconic vistas of Hong Kong, including the Star Ferry and Avenue of Stars.

The collection, lauded as a brilliant interpretation of the 'City Boy'—an urban dweller navigating the city's hustle—has left a notable imprint in the city. Visitors can purchase from the collection, as well as immerse themselves in the blown-up lookbook visuals lining the walls, capturing the spirit of the City Boy in his everyday milieu.

In her new exhibition, "Traces of Love and Timeless Adventure," Chinese artist Ziping Wang () offers a vibrant commentary on our digital age. The canvases are a cacophony of unrelated visuals — nostalgic snack packages, classical Chinese figures, and geometric patterns — deliberately crafted to confound, overwhelm, and encapsulate the sensory overload characteristic of our times.

Without naming any specific digital platforms, Wang's art deftly communicates the claustrophobic nature of the "attention economy," the landscape where information excess diminishes our capacity to concentrate. Studio Ghibli's whimsical character, the Catbus from My Neighbor Totoro, will soon leap from the silver screen to the streets of Japan's recently launched Ghibli Park.

Enter the APM Neko Bus, an electric low-speed vehicle inspired by Catbus, expected to make its official debut on March 11 next year. The project is a vision brought to life using a Toyota APM (Accessible People Mover) electric trolley, originally designed for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. Transformed with a fresh exterior, this vehicle is now set to ferry park-goers around, albeit without the fur of its animated counterpart.

The project, which has been in discussions for several months, is underpinned by a joint commitment from Studio Ghibli, Toyota, MONET Technologies, Toyoei Kotsu, and Aichi Prefecture to bring the enchanting Catbus to life.

The Council is an initiative designed to nurture dialogue, collaboration, and inspiration among a diverse global art community. Cultural strategist, patron, and academic Alia Al-Senussi, known for her advisory roles at the Ministry of Culture (Saudi Arabia) and Art Basel, will serve as the Founding Chairperson of the Council.

Together with members like Basma Al Sulaiman, Sarah Arison, Eugenio Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, and Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Al-Senussi aims to spotlight Chinese contemporary art on an international stage.

Embedded with NFC technology, this $39.99 patch serves as a physical token of digital ownership, marking it a notable foray into the realm of NFTs for all parties involved. Not only is this Haring’s initial appearance in the NFT market, but it also signals MNTGE’s first collaboration with a historic artist and Christie’s Digital Art Department's inaugural venture into retail.

In what seemed like a parody, and revealed a joint venture — the "Cyber Spoon" — that even caught CEO Elon Musk off guard.

This utensil, inspired by Tesla's Cybertruck and intended for enjoying treats like the McFlurry, was at first dismissed by Musk as "fake news."

However, as chatter amplified on Tesla's official Weibo account and McDonald's Chinese social media channels, Musk had to accept the reality of the $4 spoon.

Upon seeing a tweet verifying the Cyber Spoon's authenticity, he even expressed interest in securing one of the 50,000 limited-edition items.

Five previously unseen computer drawings by the renowned artist Keith Haring are soon to be auctioned as NFTs at . The online auction, titled "Keith Haring: Pixel Pioneer," is set to take place from September 12 through September 20.

These unique pieces, created in the 1980s using an Amiga personal computer, were gifted to Haring by Timothy Leary, a psychedelic pioneer and software developer. Although Haring initially expressed reservations about technology, he embraced digital tools as the decade progressed. The Amiga served as his canvas for these works, illustrating his distinctive, vibrant visual language in pixelated fluorescent hues.

The NFTs mark a pivotal moment in the digital art realm, as they were created at the dawn of the consumer computer age. As Gil Vazquez, Executive Director and President of the Keith Haring Foundation, pointed out, Haring recognized early on that computers would play a significant role in human lives and could be an effective medium for expressing art. He believed in the power of digital tools to communicate ideas and saw the advent of digital art as inevitable.

's "Apple, Jobs, and Computer Hardware" sale, which concluded on August 24, was a veritable treasure trove of vintage tech memorabilia. The standout item was a handwritten Apple-1 advertisement draft by Steve Jobs, which sold for a staggering $175,759, far exceeding its anticipated value.

Pre-dating 1976, the draft corresponds to the original Apple-1 ad from the July 1976 edition of Interface Magazine. The lot also included two vintage Polaroid images of an assembled Apple-1 computer board, actively running an Apple Basic program.

The auction also showcased an array of other significant Apple artifacts. Among them was an Apple Computer prototype mouse from 1984, a 1976 Apple Computer “No.2” check autographed by both Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, a fully functioning Apple-1 Computer bearing Steve Wozniak's signature, and an original Apple II, its serial number handwritten and also signed by Wozniak.

Remarkably, these items were sourced from a close acquaintance of Steve Jobs, who was present during Apple-1's formative stages. Held as sentimental keepsakes, they serve as a tangible testament to the infancy of a company that would later redefine the technology landscape.

Retro handheld maker .co is lighting up the gaming landscape (literally) with a glow-in-the-dark spin on its Pocket series.

The device, aptly named the “Pocket Glow,” retains the functionality of the original model but adds a luminous twist. In the dark, the pale green plastic housing radiates light for up to eight hours, given sufficient charge from sources such as sunlight or incandescent bulbs.

With a price tag of $249.99 and limited availability, Pocket Glow will go on sale on Analogue’s website on September 1 with shipping beginning on September 5.

With its auction ended on August 24, the unique 1/1 painting 'IX. The Monument Game' (image [2-3]) achieved a winning bid of 420.69 ETH (~$694,441), marking the highest auction record for NFT minting platform manifold.xyz in 2023.

Simultaneously, all 256 editions of 'Player' (image [1]), each priced at 3.33 ETH, were rapidly sold out since its launch on August 21, contributing an additional 851.88 ETH (~$1.41m) to the overall total.

Launched on August 21, 'The Monument Game' is a pioneering experiment by Sam Spratt that synergizes digital art and interactive storytelling. It includes the most intricate artwork Spratt has ever created, 'IX. The Monument Game,' which was auctioned as a one-of-a-kind painting. An interactive interface built around this artwork, termed "The Game," allows collectors to explore, observe, and compete.

The project also introduced 'Player,' Spratt's first-ever editioned artwork. Limited to 256 editions, it serves as a ticket for collectors to participate in the game, leaving their observations on the painting. The Council of Luci, an exclusive group of Spratt's collectors, will then deliberate and select the three most observant players.

Now, starting August 25, the Council is reviewing the observations, with finalists to be announced on August 28, and a final vote scheduled for August 30.

The top three most observant players, as determined by the Council's final votes to be tabulated and announced on August 31, will be awarded a coveted opportunity: the chance to join the Council of Luci, signified by one of the three remaining Skulls of Luci.

@Prada will celebrate the upcoming festive season with the seventh instalment of its “Timecapsule” NFT series. Titled “Prada Timecapsule Drop #36,” the December iteration will spotlight an IRL merino wool sweater, made with a special Norwegian jacquard knitting technique, and embellished with iconic holiday-themed motifs and colors — alongside a matching NFT. The digital collectible will be redeemable via a unique serial code that comes with the physical item. Holders of the NFTs will be invited to attend exclusive events such as ‘Prada Extends’ and ‘Prada Mode’.
