Sports Gaming Live! Podcast - 'Live' from

16/10/2021

My next guest is LA artist Carrie Kaplan. She sees every moment as an opportunity to create something exciting. Be it an interaction with someone, a place, or an idea. A lot of the time these moments flesh themselves out in her eclectic paintings and artwork. Creating with no preconceived image in mind, but instead she follows her instinct, channeling the energy and allows the paint to guide her to discover the unfolding art piece. For her it is always more interesting to work with the ''unknown'' and let in the opportunity for something spontaneous to create new and unique images for her eyes. Sometimes finished pieces do not quite have the clarity of meaning at the time, but does so at a later date. Or another person will see it and resonate with it, sharing back the clear meaning that person feels from her work.

Working with nontraditional materials throughout her B.F.A with Honors degree at the University of Manitoba , and while doing her thesis is what brought her artistic attention for innovation. She was not interested in painting on canvas with paint at this time, for example she was using candy and dried fruit to make a life size "Edible Woman" or scraps of metal, and bones in sculpture. Or her infamous thesis exhibit " Beauty Marks ", which included her "Chicken Jacket" , a life size biker's jacket made of chicken skin, sewn in zippers and insulated inside with human hair encased in plexi-glass, long before Lady Gaga's meat dress or Damien Hirst's fame. It was the ''find'' of material that was exciting for her. To use what she happened to come across, and then create with that . She recogized what power and value the inspired moment offers, which ultimately transforms itself into inspired action and then manifests itself in wonderous ways.

Most recently she has delved into the new renaissance in art. The NFT Vortex. This is an exciting and limitless way to express creativity. Her exploration begins by creating a hybrid of organic and digital art. She has transformed her original paintings into a series of animated NFTS. Get ready for Blast off! ( based in LA, existing in the Metaverse) 🚀🚀 for more

My next guest on The NFT Asia Podcast is Michael Manning, The Collage Don. He uses collage to talk about his passions: mental health in the age of information, the health of our oceans and recycling, and culture at large. He makes conceptual landscapes. He makes visual riddles. He makes dope collages. He is a maximalist. He likes to experiment creatively with paper and glue. He is an Award winning and lifelong artist. Collage is the medium he's most excited about and he has always returned to it creatively.

We'll be talk about his most recent self portrait inspired by his trip to Bitcoin Miami. His NFT collection titled NRG (Non-Replaceable Genesis) on Opensea. His art; why collage; why is he the collage don? What's next for him creatively?

Thank you Chris Ho for inspiring me to start Bucket List Bands Podcast https://linktr.ee/Podfestasia I listened to your show 8 Miles High during my growing up years and subscribed to cable radio Rediffusion as my mom was a seamstress and she made clothes for her clients while listening to Rediffusion, and I always turned the dial to the English Channel and you were always on. You were Singapore’s , and will play all these progressive punk rock music and spotlight local Singaporean bands as well as consistently champion acts like Na**lm Death and other Grindcore / Death Metal bands, REM, Sonic Youth, Einstürzende Neubauten., Nine Inch Nails and Industrial music, as well as controversial Hip Hop acts like NWA and introduce future music from Kruder and Dorfmeister to IDM like Aphex Twin and Autechre (æ). My dream was to interview you and recount the story of your meeting with industrial pioneers Throbbing Gristle and Genesis P.Orridge……I’m kicking myself that I will never get the chance to live tape this episode with you

In today's episode we invited Aidan Hughes from KMFDM to talk about KMFDM and his latest project!

About my guest:

Aidan Hughes is a commercial artist. He was born in 1956 in Merseyside, England, and was trained as an artist by his father, himself a landscape painter. In the 1980s, Hughes published a pulp-style magazine called BRUTE!. Brute! has become an occasional pseudonym for Hughes as well.

Hughes usually works in a very high contrast style, often black and white, but more often black and white accented with one other color. He claims influence from American comic book artist Jack Kirby, John Martin, and (most apparently) from Russian propaganda posters.

Aidan Hughes is best known for creating most of the album covers for the industrial band KMFDM.[1] Two of KMFDM's music videos ("A Drug Against War," "Son of a Gun") were animated versions of Hughes's artwork.

His other work has included outdoor murals, including the 75 metre mural in Barga, Italy during 2003[2] which has since been covered over with an earth bank; and a wide variety of advertisements, including pieces for the Bank of Scotland, and Guinness.

Hughes is credited for the art design and concept of ZPC (Zero Population Count), a first-person shooter computer game developed in 1996 using the Marathon 2 engine.

In 2017, Hughes co-founded Tweak Archived 2021-02-02 at the Wayback Machine, a photo-editing app for iOS and Android.

He presently lives and works in the Czech Republic.

I 💯 love weekends cos we get the opportunity to catch up with old friends and talented artists, KOLs, founders and tech builders in the world and do tons of live podcasts on PodFest Asia!

We'll have more convos on Bucket List Bands Podcast with Singer-songwriter, Chloe Alexander from Rockford, IL. She started with singing opera and doing theatre at the age of 13, and now has moved on to pursue music in alternative rock and indie. She was one of dozens of artists and bands who came on PodFest Asia: Nirvana Tribute Festival back in April 2021 to chat about her impressive cover of "Something In The Way" off the Nevermind album.

We'll get to hear her perform live for our audience and ask her:
1. What is the song about? How did she start writing the song? How was it recorded? What was the song releasing process?
3. Her music direction and inspiration
4. How did the concept for the video come about?
5. What are her plans for this year in music? What’s next for her? Any plans for minting her work as NFTs, more music videos, metaverse concerts, or other events?
