The Sword returns with its newly revamped website: https://thesworduppolsci.wixsite.com/thesword2021
Every day, we face these giants or what we call our problems. In order to solve these problems, we make choices based on what we think would best solve our problems. However, no matter what choice we make, we can never absolutely know what outcome that choice will bring. This fact even applies when solving major socio-political issues, wherein any major decision made by the state can lead to either advancement, retrogression, or even catastrophe.
Thus, it is imperative that we be fully informed of the consequences of whatever action we may take. It is only by knowing every conceivable outcome that we can make the best choices. Also, we must not underestimate the power of experience in teaching us the best lessons. The more we learn from our past failures and successes, the better we become at dealing with our present and future problems.
In order to provide at least the basic knowledge needed to combat some of the most prevalent socio-political matters in our lives, The Sword presents its issue for the second semester of A.Y. 2022-2023, "The Giants We Face: And How to Conquer Them". With a careful selection of topics, this issue will provide reliable background information on some of the most rampant problems we face and, at the same time, suggest tried-and-tested ways to address these problems.
With that said, it is high time we arm ourselves with the Swords of knowledge and cut through the veil of adversity that the giants of our everyday lives impose on us.
The Sword is back with its new website: thesworduppolsci.org ⚔️
Nearing two years into the pandemic, we are entering the 2022 elections with democracy on the line. Dynasties have come back with the force of a tide, bringing with it a cacophony of trolls, fake news, and historical revisionism.
However, this year brings us the chance for a democratic reversal. We are now more than capable of realizing power from below through the act of voting, proving just how powerful the gears of a democracy can be at replacing power and representing the will of the people.
Hence we, The Sword—with its four newly revised sections and a website that is now completely under its name—brings you the 2021-2022 issue with the theme “𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨: 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙨, 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙯𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧,” with topics ranging from the discussions of the still pressing plights of a public health crisis to the impending changes of an election.
As we wield The Sword this year, may we have the courage to dismantle the decaying pillars in our political lives and bring forth change through our collective realization of power!
