Hey y'all!

So, it's been a few minutes..
Or a few months, really.. with no new episodes. The truth is that like many other people, I often struggle with my mental health.

But you should know (see what I did there? 😂) that I've been in a really good place. It just required stepping way back, saying some things that needed to be said (to myself as well as to others), and the addition of some healthy boundaries to get there.

So, in celebration of that good place.. and out of gratitude to everyone who has supported me in this project, I've decided to record one final episode before dropping the YSK mic for good and moving on to other projects.

No guarantees on a release date, but I'm hopeful that you'll see a present from me in your podcast stocking before the new year.

I hope you're all well & enjoying this holiday season surrounded by warm friends, loving family & blessed with peace of mind.

What was your favorite childhood candy, and what treasured memory is attached to it?

Mine: Wonka's Dinosour Eggs
(Think gobstopper, but much larger and egg-shaped)

Camping with my grandparents at the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge a few times a year as a kid. We'd stop at the bait shop on the way home and grab some candy for the road. Man.. I miss those days, those peeps, and those vintage owl lights that dangled from the awning of their camper. ☺️

Hope you're having a great week!

Some of the most toxic relationships we can have are with family members, so why aren't people more supportive when we need to sever that connection in the name of protecting our mental health?

Toxic friends? "Toss 'em"
Toxic boyfriend/girlfriend? "Dump 'em"
Toxic workplace? "Quit that s***"
Toxic family? "But they're still family.."

Don't let someone make you feel guilty about protecting your peace and putting your mental health first.

Do you openly and honestly express your needs? Or do you passive aggressively manipulate others into meeting your unspoken expectations?

Do you communicate from a place of honest vulnerability? Or do you shame others into believing that your needs are so obvious that you shouldn't even have to ask for them to be met?

I've been struggling with this lately..
Are we afraid we're unworthy? Are we afraid of rejection? Or are we afraid of losing power or control?

Why is open and honest communication so difficult for so many of us? And why can't we normalize asking for what we need?

What kind of conversations do you dread the most? And which kind of conversations do you love?

As an introvert, I have to say I really dislike small talk.. not because I'm above it or anything, but because I'm really bad at it 😂. But the conversations I hate the most are the ones where I have to cause someone else's pain.

The conversations I love? I love hearing people talk about the things that make them happy. The glee can be downright infectious. ☺️

Hope you're having a great week!

I just wanted to give a quick shout out to Noah, the first listener to ever buy me a beer via a donation.

Your donation was a pleasant surprise.
Thanks for thinking of me and thanks for listening, brother. You da real MVP. 🍻

Here's an excerpt from Miss Audrey's story: "To the boy who lost his father while at Summer Camp" from Episode 8. Check it out, you might feel it as much as Noah and I do. Thanks again!

Hi all.. after giving it quite a bit of thought, I've decided to hang up podcasting for a while. It's been a great learning experience and a lot of fun, but I'm having a hard time finding the motivation right now.

I'm thankful to every listener for their support and grateful to all those who trusted me enough to tell their stories. 👏

📣 Special shout-out to all the friends and family who listened to endless podcast clips, read tons of stories/scripts, and critiqued a million iterations of covers & episode art.. all in the name of supporting me.

Thanks so much for listening, and we'll catch you next time..
