It's Friday!

And you know what we do on Fridays!!!!

I'll go first ⬇️

I've had some amazing feedback on my book, which I will be sharing with you next week 🎯.

But what about you?

Share your wins in the comments below ⬇️.

The wonderful Marion Keyes, once described how her mother had to warn her that “How are you today?” was a greeting, not a question.

I fell about laughing as there are times when acquaintances of mine might have wished Marion’s mother was whispering in my ear too 🙈.

I believe that a problem shared is a problem halved and I’m what in Coaching circles we call an “External Thinker” i.e. I talk through the thoughts in my head to get to a point of clarity and then action 💡.

But I’m pretty sure that there are times when those who were just expressing a passing pleasantry had wished they’d just said Hello.

It might be news to many then, that I’ve often held back. I’ve shared about me, and I’ve shared some things about my family, but I’ve not shared anything that would shatter their privacy and I’ve always been mindful of mine.

So, stepping into the social media space as a coach specialising in ADHD, with my credentials steeped in my own and my family’s personal experience of ADHD, meant that I had to be prepared to share more than I had ever shared before.

And I am just so grateful for the people who have allowed me to share their experiences of ADHD in my book collaboration and I really can’t wait to share more with you over the coming weeks 💫.

I love being a coach ❤️. It is one of the most rewarding things I've ever done.

It takes time to build up that trust and positivity within a client or their business, but once you do, you feel like you have helped someone with their dream.

Anyone can be a coach, right?

Wrong!

I believe that to be a great coach (note that I didn’t say good), you have to have several attributes:

📣clear communicator
✨radiate positively
⏰Patient with people
🚀And able to believe in someone’s dream

I have been told by my clients that they continue to work with me because of the way I make them feel during their sessions 🥰.

I tell them that it's because I believe in what they are capable of.

I want all my clients to have their bespoke version of success, to overcome challenges in life, work or parenting and live the life they want.

What do you look for in a coach?

It's Friday, and what a week it's been.

I can't tell you how excited I was to share my book news with you all.

It's something I have wanted to do for quite some time, so it is a very big win for me.

But what about you?

So, here's a thing...

There are many other positive relationships in our lives worth acknowledging.

💗Family always make you feel like you are home. No one knows us better
💗Friends are often our rock during the tough times
💗Colleagues whether on Zoom or face to face, as we spend so much of our lives with them

All these people often contribute to making us happier and bring joy to our every day, and we are absolutely blessed to have them.

With a book launch in a few weeks time, I know that I will rely on so many people to keep me going on the run up to the big day.

So, today I am acknowledging and celebrating many people, who have been my sanity, my emotional support, my belief system, my cheerleaders 📣!

Who are you celebrating today?

And now I can share it.

I am over the moon to announce that I have co-authored a book and it is out very soon 📘.

I'll be sharing more over the next couple of weeks, but I couldn't wait to share the news with you all.

I'm delighted the cat is now out of the bag, as it's been so hard to keep it to myself.

Can you guess what the book might be about 🤔?

Does this sound familiar❓

I think we are all guilty of wanting immediate gratification, especially when we are used to getting what we want in an instant.

So when we make the effort to change things, why do we not see immediate changes❓

Sometimes it’s a bit like turning an oil tanker - each change we make moves us a tiny amount towards the direction we want to go.

No one change will move us noticeably in that direction, but many changes over time will eventually have a long term effect on our path.

This does mean we don't get the gratification of a huge difference in a short time.

Do you get impatient to see the effect of changes you make?

Does the thought of staying the same, fill you with panic, or do you find comfort in the idea of staying where you are?S...

Does the thought of staying the same, fill you with panic, or do you find comfort in the idea of staying where you are?

Sometimes the brave choice is to stay just as you are – being the version of you that you are happy with. Not the person other people want you to be.

But what if staying put is terrifying, but taking action is even more frightening 🤯?

You aren’t alone.

Our brains have a natural bias towards negative thinking and keeping us safe 🧠, which means, more often than not, we stay stuck because it’s easier.

To step into the unknown can be harder than staying put.

But ask yourself this question- where do you want to be this time next year, in 3 years and then 5 years?

If you are happy with how things are, then congratulations, because it's amazing to get to that point in your life.

But, if you want to grow & expand, then you will have to push yourself out of your comfort zone by making and implementing change.

And I think that's the exciting part. What do you think?👇🏼

Many of you will know how much I love making lists, and I often get asked to share my list-building wisdom 🦉.

So, I thought I would share them again.

I recommend 3 lists:

📈Work
🏡Family
🧘🏻‍♀️Personal

Pick one task from each list to do per day (so that you do 3 tasks per day - one from each list).

Have an urgent list alongside - this will probably be long to start with but will get shorter as you get on top of actions through the other lists 💪🏼.

Try to allocate items from the urgent list, into the 3 main lists, depending on the task - this will help you to decide how urgent the task really is or if it’s just someone else demanding it gets done!

And that is how I work through my lists every day 🎯.

Tell me how you feel about lists and how you make them work for you ⬇️.

And this is often the problem. Sometimes we are so deep in the chaos that everything goes out of the window.

📆Our routine goes
🧘🏻‍♀️No chance of self-care
😕We struggle to find joy
🏃🏼‍♀️And we lose our momentum

We feel backed into a corner and can’t find a way to move forward.

When we are in the thick of it, it’s so easy to forget to ask ourselves what we want and need right now.

Friends and family don’t always understand, or they are too focused on their own thoughts and opinions to be able to help. Sometimes you just need that independent sounding board. Someone to tell you that:

📆Routine can bring stability when you are struggling or going through a difficult time
🧘🏻‍♀️Managing your self-care can refuel you and help you feel energised
😕In a world full of chaos, a joy list can help us find some headspace and clarity again.
🏃🏼‍♀️Keeping going. Just that, you’ve got this, so keep going.

I would love to know how you find the calm through all of the noise ⬇️.

24/01/2024

As we approach the end of January, it's good to reflect on what has gone well so far this year.

But also, the things that haven't gone to plan, despite being written down in your sparkly new planner.

You had the month mapped out perfectly, with some goals you wanted to achieve, but something happened out of the blue, or you just couldn't find the motivation to make it happen, leaving your plans in tatters 😭.

Sound familiar?

It’s an area clients often want to explore further - why it’s so hard to instil new habits, bring in routines and stick to them 🤔.

Or why, when they’re doing so well, something derails them.

It boils down to two things: mindset and real life.

Mindset involves self-sabotage – not feeling good enough for the result so we allow things to get in the way & use excuses so that we stay stuck. It’s in our comfort zone to stay where we are. Away from fear.

When we come across these in our sessions, we’ll often explore what would be the worst that could happen. Often, the possible outcomes are rarely as bad as we fear.

These excuses, however, might instead be absolutely real. Sick kids for example.

My clients explore whether such events are real or excuses, and then, how they are going to tackle them.

We investigate what the real events might be indicating ⁉️ – for example, we sometimes find that those who persistently don’t take action, even when they really want to, have real issues attached to this – such as ADHD, other health issues or problems with children.

Some things in life we can control, others things we have no control over. I'll be exploring this theme soon.

In the meantime, how do you handle things when life doesn't go to plan?

I spent much of last week on the road - one of my boys was sitting his driving test 🚘, so I took the opportunity to check in on my Mum up North.

But, after a tough few weeks of juggling and chaos, I'm back at it and ready for whatever the week brings 💪🏼.

There is quite a lot on my to-do list, but I am determined to be patient and kind to myself, otherwise, it could so easily go wrong.

What are your plans for the week?

It’s a challenge we all face – how do we carve out the time and space for growth when our lives are so busy?

The first – and most brutal – is to recognise that it’s in our control when we embrace a growth mindset 🧠.

Brutal because we all have reasons and excuses which are very real – it does take time to plan, buy and cook a meal for the family every night.

There are time sucks that you can’t avoid, but there are plenty of others where it’s
just habit.

Ask yourself the following questions to see where you can carve a bit more time for your personal growth journey:

🎯What are the three biggest excuses you are using that stop you from taking action on new things

🎯If you could do anything, what choice would you make instead?

🎯Consider the following statement “I am grateful to be creating my life consciously, based on the choices I make” – what do you need to change for that statement to be true?

Don't forget to answer these questions honestly and without putting judgement on yourself, and then let me know if you have found this useful ⬇️.

Let’s face it, it can be really hard sticking to something new, and this time of year is especially hard. But did you kn...
16/01/2024

Let’s face it, it can be really hard sticking to something new, and this time of year is especially hard.

But did you know that we make greater progress in developing new habits and getting rid of old ones when we take on the identity of the person we want to be?

For example, rather than saying, “No thank you, I’m on a diet”, try instead “I don’t eat bread”.

The switch in thinking from being denied to actively not choosing something helps your brain 🧠 build the neural pathway that you are someone who eats healthily and doesn’t eat carb-heavy bread.

Your brain doesn’t know the difference between imagined and real – it just builds a neural pathway that responds to our thoughts 🎯.

Try it and let me know how you get on.

2nd Friday of 2024. Done ✅

So, time to celebrate and share your wins this week 🎉.

Remember that small wins are just as important as the big ones, as they are still part of your journey and growth.

Small steps make everything less daunting.

For many of us, this will be the first week of post-festive normality.

Imagine being able to design, create and live the life you dream about, where you make the rules 🎯.

Building your business or career while managing all the challenges at home 🎯.

Working out what makes you happy and tackling the long-term issues that have held you back for so long 🎯.

Having perspective and clarity and understanding emotional triggers if you have ADHD 🎯.

That's where I come in.

I am here to enable you to succeed on your terms and live the life you want every day.

My goal is to shift you from being overwhelmed and frustrated 🤯 at the challenges or situations you face in life to having the life you need and desire – your bespoke version of success.

Happy New Year 🥂!

I am looking forward to the year ahead and I am excited about everything we are about to achieve 💯. I hope we can do it together!

Remember, those 12 new chapters won't write themselves, so we've got some work to do.

Let me know what your goals are for 2024.

It's the last Friday before Christmas 🎄.

You've made it 💪🏼!

You're hopefully on the home straight, but remember to stick to those lists and don't start adding anything new.

If you can, take some time for yourself over the weekend. And yes, a cuppa is good enough 💯.

I love reflecting at this time of year.

Looking back at both the good and the bad. The latter because the things that haven't gone well are how we learn and improve. It's part of life and how we move forward.

Thankfully, there was more good than bad this year. Yes, there were ups ⬆️ and downs ⬇️, but I am proud of what I have achieved with Avita 💪🏼.

I am especially proud of my course - The Hyperfocus Method and I am excited about bringing it back again in 2024.

19/12/2023

While kindness and compassion towards others might come easy, it’s often a different story when it comes to yourself, especially at this time of year 🎄.

The overwhelm is huge as you are rush around buying last-minute presents, extra potatoes and more Prosecco 🍾.

You get annoyed at yourself for not thinking about everything and everyone else sooner.

You berate yourself for being disorganised.

People with ADHD, are often low on the reserves of self-compassion.

Showing yourself patience and kindness can help your self-esteem. It can lift your mood.

So, if the negative self-talk surfaces over the festive season, do yourself a favour and shut it down.

Treat yourself as you would a close friend or family member.

Practice mindfulness. Get out in nature. Do a guided meditation. Hide in the bathroom with a glass of Prosecco.

Just remember to be kind. To yourself.

I would love to know how you handle the negative self-talk over the festive period ⬇️.

08/12/2023

In the workshop, I led recently, we looked at strengths, how we can perform better at work, and what supports us best in the workplace.

If you’ve fallen out of love with your employer, or find your colleagues grating where once you got it, it might be that your values have changed (or theirs have). Whilst our strengths remain broadly the same throughout our lifetime, our values can shift.

It's worth checking out James Clear's list of values (you can find these on his website).

Firstly, underline or circle all those values which resonate with you. Then keep refining that list until you settle on the top five Values which mean the most to you.

Finally, go back and consider what Values you see on display at work (not the ones the company posts on the website).

I would love to know how you get on with this one. DM me or let me know in the comments ⬇️.

All my boys are now comfortably in their teenage years 💙💙💙, and every day I’m reminded of the adage “It takes a village to raise a child”.

Never is it more true than when your children begin to dismiss your advice and consider you rather old and past it.

Over the last few months, I’ve increasingly turned to friends and the wider support network to often dispense the same advice I’ve given – but because it comes from a different source it’s fantastic! And every time, they’ve also generously added their experiences and thoughts 💡.

So, this week I picked some celebrities.

I had a great response to a social media post a few weeks ago about the Arnold Schwarzenegger interview with Chris Evans. One friend recommended the Arnie Netflix documentary. As you might suspect, it’s brilliant.

Reflecting on both Arnold’s 💪🏼 and David Beckham’s ⚽️ life stories (I've loved David's documentary too), as you might expect their resilience, visualised long-term focus and determination stood out – but also their compassion and recognition that no one gets anywhere alone. They both had the humbleness to recognise their village.

Who's in your village?

05/12/2023

And before we know it, we're into December 🎄.

The month when we can feel inadequate, time-poor and overwhelmed 🤯.

But you know what? It can be anything we want it to be.

It can be calm, and it can be stress-free. We just need to permit ourselves to take our foot off the peddle. Let it be what it will be.

Remember, there is no such thing as the “perfect Christmas”. It doesn’t exist. What is perfect to you may not be perfect to someone else, and that is fine. It’s your December, your Christmas 🎅🏼, your way 💯.

I just wanted to put this out there for anyone who needs to hear it right now.

Tell me what December means for you in the comments below 👇🏼.

As we near the end of the year, we all tend to reflect on how the year has gone, and what we want from the year ahead 🌎.

A feeling of emptiness or feeling stuck in a rut often stems from not fully knowing or understanding our purpose in life.

If this is you, try keeping a journal – writing three pages of whatever is in your head each morning before you start any other task (Morning Pages by Julia Cameron), thinking about what the meaning is behind why you do what you do.

If this is a struggle ⬆️, then Coaching would be a good option for you. As little as three sessions can start to bring a radical shift in your thinking 🎯.

As we start thinking about the gifts we will give to everyone else, what do you pledge to give to yourself 💫?

I have a special offer running throughout December - 25% off 12 sessions of my +Five Life coaching. Spaces are limited at this price. If you are interested then write GIFT in the comments.

A (very wise 🦉) friend of mine recently found herself out of work after a lifetime of gainful and impressive employment.

We were chatting about all the pluses and minuses of suddenly finding your life situation dictated by a circumstance beyond your control, when she said, “I’m genuinely, really fine.” 💫

“When I think about all the people I’ve spoken to over the last few days, many were quick notes, calls or messages from work people, who said some very kind and generous things about my abilities. But the real support, the long conversations, the people I’ve turned to have all been the friends I’ve made over a lifetime. From school, university, family, home.” She paused and reflected.

“I’m not defined by my job title – and now that’s gone, I realise how important it is that my self-worth was not tied up in a title, a salary. I’m still basically happy because my life is great, and I’m excited about what the future of work can bring”. 🎯

This was also echoed in a call I had with a client who told me how much she used the visualisation technique I had taught her to think and plan ahead. She now had balance in her life because she was on top of daily tasks and knew the purpose behind what she was doing - enabling her to direct her personal resources of energy and time to what was important.

Are you struggling with your self-worth after a big change? Let me know in the comments ⬇️.

People come to me for support with all sorts of things. Whether it’s a problem with moving forward with their business, self-limiting beliefs holding them back, or even juggling a fulfilling career while supporting a child with additional needs.

Here are some examples of life and work challenges that Coaching can be incredibly helpful to solve:

💫 Personal Growth – hitting tough times in life where we need to reassess where we want or what we need to thrive

🤯 Dilemma – for example – career/work but we don’t always want to chat them through with family, friends or colleagues who might bring their opinions into the mix. Often we need someone independent.

👩‍👦‍👦 Parenting – the needs that normal family life brings are big enough, but adding in any additional needs from children, caring for older relatives and balancing building a business or a demanding career, often means we need support to navigate life.

We all have goals we want to reach, challenges we’re striving to overcome and times when we feel stuck, so partnering with a coach can change your life, setting you on a path to greater personal and professional fulfilment.

If you are ready to make the changes needed to get the life and career that you want so you can find your version of success and live it, then you need my +Five programme. And luckily for you, I am offering this at a 25% discount until the 7th of January.

Limited spaces, so drop me a DM for more info.

There are so many answers to this question, as coaching can help
you in so many different areas of your life.

Let me share a few with you 👇🏼.

🎯 Personal Growth – when you need to reassess what it is, you need to thrive during the harder times.

🎯 Parenting – balancing a business or career, and bringing up a family, often means we need support to navigate life.

🎯 Business Growth and Change – when big changes are afoot in your business, you need to make changes which will have an impact from top to bottom.

🎯 Dilemma – sometimes, we just need an independent ear to chat through a myriad of things holding us back.

If any of these feel familiar, and you are determined to tackle things head-on and create your bespoke version of success, then let's chat.
