Every year around this time I see and hear Christians criticized for holidays they celebrate and don’t.

But if we truly are Christians why is celebrating Halloween or Day Of The Dead even topics of discussion?

What does God say about it? Is it His word we abide by or our flesh?

As a Christian parent I find myself fighting against the glitz and glam of the dark trends from our school-ager’s classrooms, especially when projects like this are pushed on them.

I mean whats the harm in coloring a paper skeleton? Or writing a summary about a spooky story read in class??

There is a harm and a danger, it’s called—compromise.

We pray with our children, have bible studies with them, they know the word and know what God says about certain practices.

But each year we have to brief them and remind them why we don’t acknowledge Halloween or Day of The Dead despite what peers and family do or say to make it seem harmless.

BTW, one cannot compare October 31st with December 25th. I know there are inaccuracies in the Gregorian calendar and we keep 25 December Christ Jesus and biblically centered.

The truth is, there is nothing Christ-like or Christ-centered about October 31st or November 1st-2nd not even an angel costume.

Both festivities glorify darkness and death.

Halloween is a night for intense demonic spiritual activity while Day Of The Dead is about erecting altars to summon familiar spirits through chants and offerings—deceiving many to think they are deceased loved ones.

When we as believers compromise our convictions by engaging in these holidays or festivals we allow for the spirit of the anti-Christ to enter our lives.

The spirit (mindset) of the anti-Christ opposes anything Christ-like or Christ-centered.

Just remember, when you compromise your conviction it’s easier to be deceived.

“Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons…”

CRIPPLED BUT NOT DEFEATED!

Jacob’s name means “heel catcher”; one to deceive. We all have read how Rebekah helped Jacob steal Esau’s blessing in Genesis 27.

Although Jacob was blessed and prosperous, he like many of us, had his fair share of sufferings.

His father-in-law, Laban cheated him, his brother Esau wanted to kill him, his daughter Dinah was r***d, he lost his first wife and two of his sons, Levi and Simeon, instigated a revolt against The Hivites, after killing all the men to include, Hamor and Shechem, Dinah’s ra**st (📖Genesis 34).

Jacob may have had his weaknesses, he may have been deceptive, but one thing we can learn is that HE WRESTLED WITH GOD AND PREVAILED!

To prevail means to prove more powerful than opposing forces; be victorious!! (Oxford, 2024).

Jacob also honored God throughout his journey. He obeyed God’s instructions, and he took care of the livestock he was blessed with including his wives and his children.

But it wasn’t until Jacob was left alone after crossing his estate (family and all he had) over to Jabbok, a river brook.

It was then Jacob was confronted face to face with GOD and wrestled! Had it not been for the Angel of The Lord touching socket of Jacob’s hip, I believe Jacob would of continued his struggle/wrestle.

But why would Jacob request a blessing if he had been blessed and prosperous already?
Had not the LORD been the gracious to him?

I believe the wrestle and struggle not only demanded a blessing, but it took Jacob to a deeper level of intimacy with God!!!! This where God's presence was encountered!

Soon after we see,

Jacob’s name changed to Israel (one who struggles with and prevails)

Jacob’s encounter with God may have left him with a limp but he came out victorious; he proclaimed his life was preserved!

Jacob established Peniel which means –The face of God!
Soon after the encounter Jacob was reconciled to his brother Esau!

EXPOSING INSECURITIES—BIND THE STRONG MAN!

📚According to Web MD, insecurities are categorized as feelings of uncertainty, fear, and inadequacy that can affect any aspect of life. They can stem from a variety of causes, including: Past trauma, Unrealistic expectations, Social conditioning, Unpredictable daily life, and Personality or brain chemistry.

📚According to Oxford Dictionary, insecurity is defined as 1. uncertainty or anxiety about oneself; lack of confidence (insecurity, 2024).

📚Research studies conclude, insecurities can impact mental well-being and can lead to: addictions, anxiety, depression, loneliness and stress.�
📣The agenda of insecurities are aimed to destroy relationships and the individual who struggle with them.

📣Insecurities can also lead to being intimidated by another’s confidence which has the possibility to breed jealousy or envy.

📣It robs the believer of their identity and keeps them in delayed from pursuing God-given assignments.

✨✨This isn’t merely observation but revelation about tactics the enemy uses to keep people in bo***ge to low-self esteem, feelings of insecurity or rejection.

MANTLES & MANDATES!

According to Strong’s Concordance #155 The Hebrew word for mantle is addereth, which translates to garment (1), glory (1), mantle (7), robe (2), splendid (1).

In the OT, these mantles were robes, or cloaks made of animal hides.

These large over- garments signified authority.

Kings, prophets & priests were known to wear them.
Elijah 📖 1 Kings 19:13, 2 Kings 2:8
Samuel 📖 1 Samuel 15:27

Today, we hear the word “mantle” to describe the measure of the anointing or grace upon an individual to do God’s work on the earth.

However, we must understand “mantles” are much more than cloaks and graces.

Because mantles equip us to fulfill our mandates (assignments), they come with RESPONSIBILITY & SPIRITUAL INTEGRITY.

Every individual in the bible who wore a mantle did so with an obligation and responsibility to honor God in their assignments!!

These mantles were given for the glory of God, not for the glory of men.

Titles can be easily earned and given…

Mantles, on the other hand, come with a weight of responsibility and must be properly handled! Mantles are spiritual garments of authority God releases to complete assignments specifically designed for us!

Elisha didn’t ask Elijah for a piece of material but for the empowerment to do greater works!

Many are crying out “God use me” but how have we handled the responsibility of what He has placed within us during this season or past ones?

❓Have you neglected the “mantle” of intercession & interceding for others because you’re too focused on what’s going wrong in your life?

❓Have you neglected the “mantle” of praying prophetic utterances to pass because of your impatience and offense that God hasn’t moved in your time frame?

❓Have you neglected the “mantle” of witnessing/evangelism? Because you are dealing with offenses?

God qualifies us for more based on the position of our heart & obedience!!!!

📣A WORD: Jesus said, in John 14:12, whoever believes in Him will do the works He did and we will do even greater things than those!!!
Don’t allow the “mantle” to pass you by!!! Repent & get into position, let the LORD deal with your spiritual apathy!!There is work to be done and it requires a greater capacity for responsibility!!

THE DEVASTATION OF OPEN PORTALS 📺

Call it not strange when you feed your eye gate with horror movies and find yourself encountering paranormal activity in your life.

Hollywood’s agenda is targeting homes through television screens with movies produced, created, and directed by individual’s who understand the power of witchcraft & demonic rituals on a movie set to influence & infiltrate the masses.

🎞️📽️Before coming to Jesus I was never a fan of gore, or horror films like “Chucky (Child’s Play)” or “Friday The 13th”…but I was very drawn to thrillers and paranormal phenomenon. Movies like “The Exorcist” “Rosemary’s Baby” “Poltergeist” “Insidious” “Exorcism of Emily Rose” “The Shining” “Paranormal Activity” to name a few, seemed more realistic to me as I was very well aware of the existence of good and evil.

🎥The common theme of many of the movies listed above deal with demonic possession and the spirit realm.
What these movies DON’T reveal is what happens on set and the after math from watching them.

ℹ️For example, on the set of filming “The Exorcist” there were at least four deaths according to sources. In the movie, “Poltergeist” two of the leading cast members Heather O’Rouke (Carol Ann) & Dominique Dunn (Dana) died prematurely. Dunn (22) was murdered and O’Rouke died at the age of 12.

Coincidence? Nope.

What people fail to understand about movies that deal with dark spiritual phenomenon is that it OPENS A SPIRITUAL PORTAL THAT INVITES DEMONIC ACTIVITY INTO ONE’S HOUSEHOLD & LIFE; especially if you are ignorant in how the spirit realm operates.

📕Portals by definition are considered gates, imposing large entrances (Websters , 2024).

Because the spirit realm is unseen, the affects of what we watch or expose ourselves to aren’t easily detected by our natural senses. If I could give you a visual, look at your TV as a window or open door when I refer to it as a portal.

This is why Christians should be mindful of the shows and movies they watch and more adamant about protecting their eye gates by all means necessary.

📺🎞️Netflix has recently released a new horror film, “THE DELIVERANCE” directed by Lee Daniels and stars Mo’Nique & Glenn Close. Because it is the latest movie trending in the category of horror and the fall season is upon us, more and more horror films are at the forefront. Many are going to watch this film because of their curiosity of the spirit realm and supernatural phenomenon.

❗️⚠️But before you watch, here are some fun facts about the movie to consider if you are a follower of Jesus:

•The movie is based on true events pertaining to the Ammons Family who lived in Gary, Indiana.

•Lee Daniels, the producer and director of “The Deliverance” BROUGHT A PREACHER (APOSTLE LEWIS) to pray for the cast each day because Daniel’s knew what he was tapping into recording this film, and knew of the paranormal encounters sets of films mentioned above experienced.

•Lee Daniels also stated in an interview that his dog died on the set, and his sister who he always keeps on set when he films has been diagnosed with lung cancer.

•Despite Daniel’s efforts in keeping the cast and crew protected with prayer, they still encountered backlash for opening a gate to the spirit realm and exposing the darkness of demonic posession.

🤯The last horror film I watched as an ignorant Christian was, “Insidious” and boy did that movie do a number on me. I opened myself to night terrors, fear would torment me at night and rob me of my sleep and peace, I would hear paranormal activity and smell rotten sulfur in my apartment and I would get attacked with “sleep paralysis”. I also had to renounce and cast down a lot of the imagery of dark films I watched growing up because it rooted itself to fear and kept m on edge.

⛓️‍💥🔨🕊️✝️PRAISE GOD FOR TRUE DELIVERANCE AND THE POWER TO OVERCOME FEAR AND TORMENT!

✝️To The Christian: no matter how much you pray, don’t be deceived…the best way to safeguard yourself from demonic attacks is by keeping your eye gate protected–even though it is still utlimately your choice…I URGE YOU STAY AWAY FROM HORROR FILMS. Other wise you will need to go through deliverance yourself.

🫣🧐For those curious about the spirit realm and deliverance: Hollywood isn’t the best source to teach about demons & the spirit realm.
Do demons exist? Yes. Demons can oppress, infiltrate and posses a person BUT NOT WITHOUT PERSONAL CONSENT, PERMISSION, ALLOWANCE, APPROVAL.

🪧If we violate spiritual laws and principles by choice we will also deal with the consequences of those choices.

⚠️This message isn’t intended to glorify the works of darkness more so than it is to caution you on how to prevent the works of darkness from entering your life!!!

REMEMBER GOD IS GREATER! AND EVERY DEMON AND UNCLEAN SPIRIT HAS TO BOW TO THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH!
