Our review of The Acolyte’s final episodes is now live 🥹

In The Acolyte’s season finale, a convergence around a vergence leads each of our faves back to Brendok for a final showdown. In “The Acolyte” (The Acolyte S1, Ep. 8), we see circles closing, mirrors breaking, and themes resolving…and not always for the better.

Our discussion centers on justice and whether it was achieved. We also break down that GORGEOUS final lightsaber duel, talk through the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise, and speculate wildly on who’s apprenticing whom, and how long it’ll last.

One thing is for sure—this show is begging for an Osha/Qimir messaround via a Season 2. And we want it too!!

Surprise! Just like Mae and Osha, we have a two-for-one special this week: A recap of both “Day” and “Night” (The Acolyte S1, episodes 4–5).

We dive deep into the twisting forest of Khofar this week. Our discussion covers the secrets of the Sith-like Stranger, the hypocrisies of the Jedi, and the razor line between light and dark.

We also recap these episodes’ spectacular saber fights and how they’re stylized—with far more finesse than flash and bang. And of course, we sing praises to our favorite Padawan, Jecki.

I still see many complaints that Disney added witches to Star Wars, which really proves their ignorance. The Nightsisters have been a part of the Star Wars Universe for years, long before Disney came around. The Nightsisters were first introduced in the 1994 novel The Courtship of Princess Leia, and witches themselves go back even further to the Ewok movies.

We’re in flashback mode this episode as we recap the Acolyte’s third episode, “Destiny.” It hearkens back to the Clone Wars’ Nightsisters, and brings back the same conversation we had during their extermination—about the persecution of powerful women.

This episode spirals us through a million possible theories of what happened The Night of the Fire.

✨ What do we really know about the Jedi on Brendok?
✨ Whose jurisdiction applies?
✨ Would you rather be groomed into a cult leader or a child soldier?

The Acolyte is a cop procedural, right?? That’s our working thesis this week as we recap episode two, “Revenge / Justice,” which opens on a locked-room murder scene, and introduces fascinating new allies and enemies. (The line between which is which becomes murkier every moment.)

This week, we dive deep into Mae’s revenge and Torbin’s justice—maybe. The Acolyte continues to twist our perceptions of what’s real and who’s responsible, and just when we think we have the means, motive, and opportunity, new wrinkles are revealed.

After 160 episodes of Growing Up Skywalker, we finally hit the end of the Original 3.

This week, we had a deep conversation on the nature of the Force, cosmic death, destiny, and redemption. The moment of Anakin’s redemption hits so different after seeing his entire story—and we also talked about the aftershocks of the Empire’s chokehold over the galaxy and what’s next for our heroes.

Next week, we’re not headed into the Mandalorian Era. We’re getting topical!! Growing Up Skywalker catching up on everything preceding the Original Trilogy that we missed along the way: The Acolyte and Bad Batch Season 3.

HAPPY STAR WARS DAY! ✨ This #maythe4thbewithyou marks our two-year podcast anniversary 🥹 We thought we’d sit down with our show mascot to celebrate. These past two years have been a wild ride — through the prequel movies, the Clone Wars, Tales of the Jedi, and the Bad Batch. Along the way, we’ve met so many beautiful souls, shed tears for beautiful characters, read so many fortune cookies, recorded almost 100 episodes of the podcast, and laughed SO. MUCH! A little late but still in honor of #MayThe4th, our Bad Batch season 2 finale drops on Tuesday. Then we’re off to the races: watching Solo, Kenobi, and Rebels. Thanks for being on this journey with us. Y’all make it so great! ✨

The Zygerrian arc of The Clone Wars is an adaptation of “Slaves of the Republic,” the first story arc of the comic series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It’s tough material to watch: Obi-Wan and Rex enslaved, Anakin pretending to sell Ahsoka into servitude. But it also brings up important questions about persecutors of oppression. This week on Growing Up Skywalker, we’re talking about how the Second Mandalore Arc (The Clone Wars season 3, episodes 5-6) is a perfect, miniature encapsulation of the entire Clone Wars. Beset on all sides, Duchess Satine Kryze is at the head of a crumbling Mandalorian government, trying to change a warrior culture into one of pacifism and neutrality. It’s an attempt that’s principled, brave…and doomed.
