It’s true, we’re back with Episode 27 of Drink the Coffee Do the Work! In this special episode Tim & Lindsay chat about the pandemic and how its impact is being felt on independent & small businesses in Ontario.

Lindsay shares some insights in to a petition she recently started which has already gained over 100,000 signatures, calling for the safe re-opening of Ontario Small Business.

We chat about how our businesses have evolved over the past year and will continue to shift in to 2021 + beyond. Some wins and some losses, as well as some exciting new ventures we’ve taken on.

We also have an exciting opportunity for small businesses to get free advertising with us, so make sure you check that out and then give us a shout by DM if you’re interested!

Carla Beharry joins us on this episode to talk about the WOKE WO/MENS movement. Her organization highlights and promotes the everyday stories that shape and impact the lives of people of colour in our community. Pre-Covid 19, Carla would host events that featured speakers and artists to share their voices and stories. ⠀
⠀
Being a POC Carla takes us through some of her personal stories that shaped her life and how she is using these experiences to push awareness of the daily obstacles to POC that are deeply seeded in our culture.⠀
⠀
Carla generously shares her knowledge with us on how we can be more effective allies, and how we can better show up for the BIPOC community.⠀
⠀
We recorded this episode with Carla last week, in the wake of the murder of Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd, but Carla has been doing this work for years. We also want to mention that this was recorded prior to the many protests that have erupted across the world, calling for action to stop the violence against black men and women. ⠀
⠀
Since recording, .beharry and , ACB networking Waterloo with Black Lives Matter Waterloo Region have organized the Kw Solidarity March for Black Lives Matter - tomorrow June 3rd at 5pm. Please visit Carla or Selam's pages for more details, we hope to see you there.⠀

Blayre Ellestad, a Juno award winning music video producer, director, editor & cinematographer joins us in this week’s episode! He takes us through his slow and thoughtful transition from shooting over 30 weddings a year to where he plans to be in 2022. He also gives us a behind the scenes look at his experiences filming the award winning music video that landed him a Juno - (remember Hideaway by Kiesza?!). For our non-Canadian listeners, a Juno is the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy! Blayre shares his plans for launching a new business that will disrupt the post production world when it comes to colour correcting films.

Please enjoy the very animated and entertaining human being that we love, Blayre Ellestad.
