‘Nawaz Sharif was not in favour of 26th Amendment,’ senior journalist claims

Political analyst Nusrat Javed has claimed that former Prime Minister (PM) Pakistan Nawaz Sharif’s body language was showing his lack of interest in passing the 26th Constitutional Amendment in parliament on Sunday.

Appearing on Public TV’s programme Khabar Nashar, he said, “Nawaz Sharif ka dil hi iss ma nahi tha, mery khayal se wo dil se hi chah rahay thay kay ye na hi hu.”

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif was reportedly quiet at a dinner arranged by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif before tabling the 26th Constitutional Amendment. “Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chief Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) and President Asif Ali Zardari only remained engaged in verbal communication,” Nusrat Javed added.

The political analyst further claimed that the PML-N supremo only kept advising lawmakers to try the different food dishes at the dinner. Otherwise, he remained silent.

Citing Nawaz Sharif’s lack of interest in tabling constitutional amendments in parliament, he substantiated his claim by saying that Nawaz Sharif was the last to arrive at the National Assembly on Sunday.

Action Taken Against Fraudulent Galvanized Sheet Dealers in Mansehra

Mansehra: In response to numerous complaints about the sale of improperly labeled galvanized sheets, the Assistant Director of Consumer Protection has initiated a crackdown on local dealers. A recent market survey revealed significant discrepancies in the weight and gauge of the sheets sold to consumers.

During test purchases, it was discovered that:

- Consumers were unable to accurately assess the quality of the sheets.
- Dealers did not disclose the weight versus gauge of the sheets.
- No dealer possessed the necessary measuring tools.
- Receipts issued lacked essential details such as size, weight, and gauge.

For instance, a 10' x 39" sheet claimed to be 25 gauge weighed 10.200 kg but was actually 28 gauge. Another sheet, claimed to be 26 gauge, weighed 11.500 kg but was found to be 30 gauge. Market standards indicate that a 25 gauge sheet should weigh approximately 14.500 kg.

Following these findings, the Assistant Director, along with the Additional Assistant Commissioner, conducted a raid on the offending dealers. They confirmed the discrepancies by weighing sheets and using a metal gauge tool. One dealer’s operation was shut down, and confessional statements were recorded for further legal action in the Consumer Court.

This initiative aims to protect consumers and ensure fair trade practices in the region.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Saudi Arabia's Al Baik Food System Company and Gas and Oil Pakistan Ltd (GO) to explore expansion opportunities for the renowned Saudi fast food chain in Pakistan, according to state-run APP.

This agreement was part of a larger event during the visit of Saudi Arabia's Minister of Investment, where 27 MoUs were signed for collaboration across sectors including energy, agriculture, mining, human resources, and cybersecurity.

Al Baik CEO Rami Abu Ghazaleh expressed that the company is currently analyzing the local market in Pakistan to facilitate the launch of its operations soon.
