The CEO of a prominent Nigerian bank, Herbert Wigwe, along with his wife, son, and other passengers, tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash near the California-Nevada border. The crash occurred as the chartered Airbus EC130 helicopter was en route from Palm Springs, California, to Boulder City, Nevada. Apart from the Wigwe family, other victims included the former group chairman of the Nigeria Stock Exchange and the helicopter’s pilots. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the crash, citing witness reports of inclement weather at the time. Condolences poured in from Nigerian officials, mourning the loss of Wigwe, who was hailed as a visionary leader in Nigeria’s financial sector. Investigators are diligently documenting the crash site, and a preliminary investigation report is expected in the coming weeks.
